The course had signs of the recent maintenance work coming out of winter and into spring but was in general good condition, the greens was bumpy and slow especially on the back 9 which was due to the greens recently hollow tyned.

March conditions
Played on 6 th March in windy conditions.thought for time of year that the course was in excellant condition , greens were good and sand in bunkers was very goodOff yellows a good test of golf as over 6200 yards

Play here often. The recent wet weather has obviously caused problems but the groundsman have worked hard to keep the course open and playable. Was in very good condition under the circumstances

Course is a real lovely PAR 3, probably the best PAR 3 i have played. Definitely a regular for me.

Lovely course. Wide fairways that were very forgiving. Greens fast but true.
Buggies were in a compound away from the car park and couldn't be driven to the car. Somewhat defeats the object if you were parked far away from the buggy locations!!

Worth Playing
First time I have played here since it was Crown Golf are no longer in control. Course the same but clubhouse much changed.Course in excellent condition, Tees, Fairways, Bunkers and greens are perfect. Greens very fast, I four putted at least three times!!!!, On the downside is the bar which now only serves designed beers but if it is the golf you are interested in then a very good course.

Nice course, worth a visit
Course in excellent condition when played. The rough was very long, and any shots off fairway then play a provisional, unlikely to find ball. Greens hard and fast. Difficult to stop running off the back. All ditches were dry, beware of rocks if playing out! Bunkers quite hard and some stony. Long wait for food in clubhouse.Reviewer Rating

First visit to this course. Open parkland course. Some long par 4's, especially uphill. Greens were good as were the bunkers. Excellent clubhouse, although it is card only. Lots of trees, although spaced apart and lots of mounds too, so I you are off line your next shot may be blind. A ditch (dry when we were there) meanders though the course with pebbles in the base and some large rocks. A couple of times these were in front of greens so you have to make a decision to go for it or lay up. Reasonably hilly. Slop index 121 off the yellows with red yellow and while flags indicting the location of the pins. No warm up nets but a modern driving range with tracker.

Good enjoyable course
I have played at Chesfield Downs on many occasions over the years, always as a visitor. In April 2022, I played as a guest of two friends who are both members. I like the course and on this occasion it was in good condition though I know it can a bit waterlogged in wet weather. The fairways and greens were in good condition though the bunkers did need some work on them.Although I enjoyed the round, I was taken aback at the price I was charged, even as a member's guest - ?40! Apparently, it would have been ?50 had I not been playing with a member! I think Chesfield Downs is a nice course but it is not good enough to charge that sort of price for a round. I would like to play there in the future but it looks like i will have to play outside the peak summer months. A shame!

The greens were in a pretty poor state when I played and lots of the bunkers were under repair. Not as well drained as they claim on their website as it was carry only. I think its a bit expensive for what you get, nice putting green outside the clubhouse tho.

LOOKING GOOD

The course is looking in good condition and currently playing fast due to the dryer weather recently. Near Rough is cut but don't get in the long stuff! Putter lifter on the greens to avoid taking the flags out; so we play it ?in? if it strikes the flag stick and rebounds within a putter grip away. No rakes in bunkers presently and a few are ground under repair. Putting green is large and excellent condition with flats and slopes so practice is appropriate and challenging. Open course with whispy grass as it's defence, bunkers were rubbish, little or no sand in them, what sand there was was dusty, impossible to play a proper bunker shot! Course in general could do with a lot of TLC!
Spending lots of money on the clubhouse, they seem to have forgotten the course! Overpriced, can get better value elsewhere

Another course adjusting after lockdown. Greens ok. Fairways dry and very hard. Bunkers have not been touched in months, not even raked. Some are being re built. Ownership recently changed hands which would explain the sudden hike in green fees.
