What the club says: Situated in the heart of the New Forest, in the village of Burley, the club is accessible form both the A31 and the A35 roads. The location of the course is stunning with wonderful views across the New Forest heathland and with many of the local animals visible at all times. The course measures 6151 yards, par 71 for men, and 5347 yards, par 70 for ladies and represents an interesting challenge for golfers of all standards. The course is essentially a 9 hole course but with different tees for the first and second 9 holes. The challenge is quite different for each half of the round.

Links style 9 holes - a great course
This is in the New Forest and has some great views. With sandy undulating fairways flanked by gorse and heather this is very much a links course in my thinking.
As such the locals say there is hardly ever a hole closed due to wet weather, such is the drainage.
An unusual hazard are the New Forest ponies (and cows) that meander the course at will.
Twice round the nine holes for ?20 (with a county card) is certainly value for money.
Greens were very good and true.
A few blind holes but that second time around playing the back nine tees you have a little more course knowledge. A benefit of 9 hole course.

Mostly the fairways are fairly wide and accommodating, but the the 7th narrows down the closer you get to the green. This hole is certainly the most memorable, with a huge tree protecting the front of the green.
The greens and tees were decent, while the fairways were a little patchy in places, but the course is nicely laid out and fairly enjoyable.

We had a good afternoon
Weekday 3pm tee time was £20.9 holes and round twice. Different tee boxes, but doesn't make much difference and it can get congested.
One of out group described the greens as like putting on ice rinks, which was a pretty fair description. I understand it's known as 'Bouncy Burley'.
Nice when the ponies are about and a deer ran across the back of one green whilst we were playing.
It made a nice change to play there, once every couple of years would be pleasant, but I can't imagine playing here regularly.
All in all we all had a good time - the White Buck pub nearby is also a bonus.

A unique experience
This course is great fun and certainly one to tick off. You give up some of the quality of other local courses in regards to fairway standards however the fact you can be playing golf shots stood next to ponies, cows and the like makes it a fun and unique experience. The course condition is actually very good considering you really are in the heart of the New Forest and the challenge it provides comes from all angles even when you've hit middle of fairway there is no guarantee you'll have an even footing which adds to the fun.Thoroughly enjoyable and would play again.

Great course
2nd hole is a fun, short par three, big bunker short. Ball was running very fast, par 5 third played, pitching wedge in. Great downhill dogleg left, fairway tightens a driving area. Seventh is pretty quirky, big Oak tree on left hangs over the green, need to get the ball down as far as possible off the drive, hole dog legs down hill left, can very easily be blocked out and have to play a low one in, with the land taking your ball right, would be some shot to hit a low one on green. Sixth plays longer than the yardage; uphill second. 9th also plays uphill for the approach. Handicap 6. Score 44 for 9 holes.Reviewer Rating

Unique
Great round at Burley. Very friendly clubWell looked after greens which are very tricky. Not a long course but you have to really think hard before every shot. Very good value. Occasionally frustrating that good shots into greens run off. Great to be with nature with moooovable obstructions everywhere!

Easy to hit your ball into the path of a car as some fairways are close to the road. Club facilities average, and no discount for 9 holes. Worth a visit on a nice day,
