What the club says: The original course designer was G.L. Baillie originally from Scotland. The courses at Greenore, Omagh, Castlerock, Lisburne & Leopardstown were among his other designs and not only did he design the course at Bundoran for a fee of £15, but he also collected the membership subscriptions for the first season. History was made on the 24th August 1894, when the first competition for the Club Handicap Monthly Prize was played.
In 1903, C.S. Burthart, the Professional at Royal Co. Down Golf Club was employed to design an 18 hole course for Bundoran. this next step of the course development was completed by 1905????.
In Easter 1927, Harry Vardon, 6 times British Open Champion was invited to plan design changes to bring the course up to championship standards. His design featured the re-sitting of greens, replacing of tees addition of many bunkers. The ambition of having a championship course was reached, & although seemingly complicated, when implemented, the design echoed Vardon's philosophy on course design; "to give pleasure to golfers of all degrees".

Great course
A links course set on a cliff over looking donegal bay. course is in great condition with over 100 bunkers and fast greens this is a test for everyone.(Round played: Sep 2021 - Score: 78 Handicap: 11.4)

good challenge
a great links course with outstanding views. course is in excellent condition and well worth playing a good challenge for all levels especially when it gets windy(Round played: Nov 2018 - Score: 79 Handicap: 13.1)

Very enjoyable course but if the wind blows can be very difficult as part of the course runs along not that far from the sea.
