What the club says: Our three loops of nine holes (Becton, Needles & Stroller) start and finish close to the clubhouse. Many forms of golfing challenge await the player from the shot over the water to our island green on Needles 9, to links style bump and run shots to the greens close to the coastline. Sea breezes also add to an enjoyable test of golf. Couple this with breathtaking sea views, and a pleasurable experience is guaranteed.

Loved it
Stunning views, great variety of holes (Played all 27), very challenging especially into the wind (which we were told by locals was just a breeze!). We played the first day after 4 hours of heavy rain and the courses dried up superbly - bunkers did not fill with water. All in all a lovely experience, though some lower handicappers might take issue with a few of the greens which could be better. But why do people NOT repair pitch marks! That does not help Will go again!Reviewer Rating

Typically a reasonable or very strong breeze here, it was exceptionally still for a clifftop course and a lot more scoreable as a result.
It's a 3 loops of 9 layout so I'll have to come back to take on the other 9 (I played Becton/Needles) but there are some lovely holes here with highlights for me of 2nd, 5th and 7th on Becton and then the 9th on Needles is particularly memorable as a bonafide island green par 3 finish. It's short even off whites at about 145 yards but I'm reliably informed that may need to be a 6 iron (instead of my 9) on a different day!
Beautiful location with great views of the Isle of Wight and back towards Christchurch so will always be worth a game for that, and at £25 as member's guest for twilight, thoroughly recommended.

Barton Needles & Stroller
Love this course and all three 9 holes, these two are my favourite and glad we got to play them. Windy, as usual, but the course is in fantastic condition as ever, loved it, flew round too in 3 1/2 hours. Very enjoyableReviewer Rating

Great course
Played as a guest and, although still quite pricey at £35, was worth every penny. Drainage very good and so no mud at all and greens true and quick. However, very pricey to pay as a visitor unless you're used to playing such fees.Has three courses of 9 holes and all have great views of the coast line and Isle of Wight.

Unfortunately the staff in the pro-shop get 0/10. We verbally booked a 4 ball weeks ago and verbally confirmed again last week that we would be using County Cards. We were told County Card rate of £50 but we couldnt book an actual tee time (this is the system used by the club) as there was a members roll up until 10.30 - but we'd be ok to tee off around 10.30ish. Checked in and confirmed all of the above to be told:
1. our electronic County Cards werent acceptable, because it wasnt a County Card!!!. Obviously we explained that was nonesense,
2. then we're told we didnt have the Count Card rate it in writing
3. When i explained i confirmed it with the pro shop the week before - we were asked to name the person we spoke to on the phone - to be told that because i couldnt name the person i spoke to there was no record
4 The next excuse was , as we didnt have a booking we couldnt get the County Rate of £50 (but you cant book under their system)
5. Then we're finally told you cant use a County Card and get the reduced rate of £50 but had to pay £80.
So all in all a lovely days golf, but spoilt by a surly un-cooperative uniformed individual with attitude in the pro - shop.

Superb
It is a bit expensive, but when you play it you can understand why. Played all three 9 holes courses - all very good, with the Beckton course son scenic. Greens v.good. The 'island' hole great fun.Reviewer Rating

One of my favourites
All three nines are fantastic, bit challenging especially with the wind, but course was in great condition and a beautiful evening for it. Just wish it was a little bit better value for money as it is expensive.(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 89 Handicap: 16.9)

Excellent
Just the perfect well maintained course. The best in the area. The day was a beautiful sunny day with far reaching views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. The course layout in my view is great and I wouldn't change a thing, slightly challenging for me but I like that. Enjoyed sitting in the Club House with those stunning views. Staff were friendly and food top notch.Reviewer Rating
