What the club says: Built at the mouth of Aberdeen Harbour and bounded by the North Sea, the views available up and down the coast as well as across the busy harbour with the city beyond are simply breathtaking.
Widely acknowledged as one of the best municipal 18-hole courses in Scotland, James Braid, Archie Simpson and the Hawtree family all had a hand in carving out this coastal golf experience. Found in the heart of a local conservation area, the stunning layout requires nerve and balance in equal measure.
Balnagask is a distinctive golf course offering a great variety of golf holes in a spectacular setting. The golfer will enjoy the naturally rolling coastal landscape offering hidden fairways, elevated tees, gorse walled ravines and a host of interesting features including the historic Girdle Ness Lighthouse

Can't Believe this is Municipal
This is the second time I have played the course, the first was a few years ago. I really cannot believe that this is a municipal course, the greens are exceptionally good, far better than 90% of private courses in England. The course is not for the fainthearted, a lot of blind crests to play over and as it is quite a compact course , there are several pinch-points where you are playing over a crossing fairway so have to wait for it to be clear, this is especially the case on the 15/16/17. The wind can be a real challenge, but the views are spectacular. Well worth a trip and certainly we will be playing it again.Reviewer Rating

Great course with Fantastic views
The course has been much busier post lockdown but the condition of the course is still maintained at a very high standard, particularly the greens, so thanks to all of the green keepers.A hilly course with lots of hidden greens and due to its location there is always wind often significant to factor in to your game. Fantastic views over beach, harbour city and beyond to Deeside.
Couse is usually dry and very clean due to wind and lack of trees.
Definitely worth a visit.
