What the club says: Nine-hole, tree lined, moorland course. The first fairway is a seventy foot climb within a hundred and ninety yards, then level the rest of the way. The ninth-tee is elevated forty-five feet above the green whilst the ladies' 18th tee is higher, with a blind shot to the green. Our fourth green is 1,250 ft above sea-level with a challenging, raised green.

Enjoyable round

The fairways, tee areas and greens were in fantastic condition considering the wet weather we have had. Although the ground was a little soggy in places it did not detract from an enjoyable round of golf!

Good condition and friendly

Played 9 holes at 4pm on a Saturday just after their comp. My wife is a new player so we were hoping not to be pushed by players behind us. Found the members on the course very patient and never pressed us.

The course was in great condition - especially for a 9 hole moorland course - teeboxes tidy, greeens receptive and true. No GUR and fairways well maintained.

Post round the welcome and friendliness of members and staff in the clubhouse was unbelievable. We will both be back very soon.

Re: \'worst greens ever\'. Since this poor review in 2010, there has been a complete overhaul of almost everything associated with Bacup GC. Hard working new greenstaff, Gary & Reece, have transformed the course to it\'s former glory. The greens are superb. New steward Ian & his wife Marcia have made the club a pleasure to attend once again. Come and see!

Worst greens ever

£10 would normally be classed as a golf bargain, but not here. The greens are the worst I"ve ever been on. The secretary doesn't seem to want to help you. Bar staff were pleasant enough. Feel sorry for the members. Pace of play was good because there was nobody else on. Don't bother.
