What the club says: Regarded as one of the most picturesque courses in Wales with the magnificent backdrop of the historic Gwrych Castle, Abergele Golf Club remains a firm favourite with both members and visitors who visit from all over the golfing world.The 18 holes themselves are both complex and challenging, providing a fabulous game for amateurs and professionals alike. Weather wise, the prevailing wind will add to the difficulty of the course, and there will be several holes where you wish you could replay them again and again.There are many beauty spots across the course, giving you the opportunity to take a moment and admire the wonderful views. For example, upon completing the 17th – gentle in comparison to some of the other courses in the region – you can stand back and admire the distant views of Blackpool Pleasure Beach or, on a clear day, the Isle of Man some 70 miles away.

With strategically placed bunkers to trap the unwary, many par 4 holes may prove challenging to newcomers. The par 5 holes of the course are renowned for their own distinct features. At 580 yards, Abergele Golf Club boasts one of the longest holes in Wales, the 8th, redesigned to ensure you accurately place your approach shot.Without a doubt, the signature hole at Abergele is the 18th, which will see you complete your round in front of a welcoming crowd on the balcony of the Clubhouse. The 18th is likely to remain in the visitor’s mind for a very long time! One cannot advise the best approach, however, even the most experienced golfers may well exercise caution in order to protect a medal card.
