Set in its own 200 acre parkland estate, the George Washington Golf and Country Club is a 103 bedroom hotel offering the latest modern amenities and conferencing facilities. Friendly staff will ensure that guests thoroughly enjoy their stay. Both the Abraham Lincoln Bar, Brasserie and Restaurant and the less formal Bunkers bar offer a varied menu of good quality cuisine and provide a perfect place for golfers to relax after a round on the Masters. The Hotel boasts a well-equipped leisure club, which includes an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, gym and squash courts. Situated only 5 miles from Newcastle, the hotel is within easy reach of local attractions such as the Beamish Museum, the Metro Centre, and some beautiful local coastline. The cities of Durham and Sunderland are close by, as well as the historical sites of Northumberland and the Scottish borders.

What the club says: The George Washington Golf and Country Club hosts a fabulous par 73, championship course with a standard scratch of 71. Set in mature tree lined parkland, the course is home to a number of major regional competitions. The various natural hazards and tactical holes offer a good challenge of golf to both occasional and seasoned club players.

The course was long. One of the longest I've plaid but this was negated by the wideners of nearly all the fairways. Not a course where many lost balls should come into play. The course was beautifully kept, the greens were fast and tricky which is to be expected.

Great Course
My club course, so I may be biased. It's beautiful to play through the trees, and very picturesque. Is a bit wet at the moment, but that's typical of a lot of parkland courses at this time of the year.(Round played: Oct 2020 - Score: 82 Handicap: 11.7)

First game for a while..course in good condition. Greens are cut short so its very fast.fairways are wide and approach are clear

Great course

The George Washington golf club was is fantastic condition, well cut fairways and the greens were perfect

Great Course

Excellent course! Not much danger but have to be accurate off the tee. Some par 5s are accessible in 2 shots. Greens were fantastic !!

George Washington golf club was in excellent condition throughout the food was great and a special mention to the elderly pro shop assistant who was more than happy to make you feel welcome
I had a guest with me from overseas and he made her fell very welcome
