Chip-ing Revolutionary New Retrievable Never Lost Golf Ball
There are few experiences quite as infuriating on the golf course as an aimless search for a ball in the rough or trees. It can add significant time onto your round, killing the flow of your game, and will cost you shots if the retrieval missions prove to be unsuccessful. All of these factors combine to undermine the enjoyment of a recreational round, leaving a sour taste in the mouth and a gaping hole in the pocket. However, there is now an alternative to that predictable and tedious process.
The Chip-ing NeverLost golf ball is a truly exciting innovation that has the potential to revolutionise the experiences of many regular golfers. The NeverLost ball retains all of the characteristics of its standard cousins, with its look, weight and physical behaviour fitting in with any other brand. Its performance is not inhibited, with the only key differentiation being the fact that the ball possesses an intelligent core that has been built in with the ability to communicate with any smartphone.
The Technology
The centre of the ball features a small printed circuit board with selected electronic micro components that consist of a modest size of 17 mm that ensures the power cell and chip are a compact and effective unit. This technology has been protected to withstand the movement and force that can be impacted by a driver and it flies and rolls in the same manner as a regular golf ball.

Through this stunningly creative process, balls can be tracked and found by the player up to a distance of 150 yards - with lower estimates and signal strength occurring in more hazardous surroundings - instantly making those searches into the more wayward and adventurous parts of the course much less daunting, with the NeverLost featuring an electronic transmitter built in that communications with your phone using long established Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology.
Saving Time and Shots
With this technology in your hands, finding wayward balls becomes a much simpler process of walking towards its assumed location, with the signal shown on the Chip-ing Finder App on your phone increasing until you physically pass the ball. The application will then point you in the right direction, making it easy to use and straightforward to retrieve the otherwise potentially lost ball.
That will naturally save shots during the average round, but it also avoids the painstakingly tiresome searches that accompany drives that have found the longest rough or most dense hazards. Speeding up the game. On average NeverLost balls are found in less than one minute.
Saving Money
“An average of 4.5 balls get lost per round during every game. With NeverLost golf balls, all you need is one or maybe two if you can‘t stay away from water! If you play an average 10 rounds per year, you save at least 30-40 balls. That means a savings of $100-150 depending on the brand you play with,” explains creator Thomas Sandel.
That is another positive of the NeverLost project, when you consider the amount of money spent on balls each year, particularly when it relates to leading brands such as Titleist, Callaway and Bridgestone. For many club golfers, the cost of having to constantly replenish their stock of golf balls can quickly accrue to an inhibiting level. NeverLost is an investment that will ease that burden.
The Creative Team
The brainchild of Sandel, who can claim 25 years of experience within the finance and risk management industries, while playing to a reasonably high handicap of 20. Thomas is the sort a golfer who will most benefit from his enticing idea – saving time, money and enjoyment for the average player playing rounds with their friends and family.
Working closely with his partner Daniel Rauch – who has over 30 years of experience in international sales, marketing and mass producing - they have combined their extensive business knowledge with the talents of Alex Raimondi, who earned a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from the prestigious ETH in Zurich, Switzerland.
Alex is in charge of upscaling producing and the wireless communication system certification, while the team has presently launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds that will facilitate those processes of mass production of the NeverLost golf ball, and to get the vital radio transmission technology certified by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) that will help lead to the development of the application that will locate the transmitted signal from the ball.
The Future
This is a project of limitless potential that is sure to intrigue golfers across the world. Its progression from development into mass production could be a game-changer for the technology industry, with the balls certain to find favour with recreational golfers who wish to maximise the enjoyment that they attain from their experiences on the course.
Pre-orders for the NeverLost ball can be made starting September 18, 2015 through November 2, 2015.
