Ashes cricketer experiences Mizuno fitting performance centre

By: Golf Shake | Tue 04 Aug 2015

Ahead of the third test at Edgbaston, left-handed Yorkshire and England opener, Adam Lyth, enjoyed a full Performance Centre club-fitting experience from Mizuno, the Japanese equipment manufacturer long renowned for its industry-leading forged golf clubs.

Mizuno, founded in Osaka, Japan, in 1906, has long held an enviable reputation for crafting the finest and most versatile forged golf clubs on the market and England opening batsman Lyth, recently swapped willow and leather for titanium and steel when he was fitted for a full set of clubs by James Whitaker in the Mizuno Performance Centre at Moor Allerton Golf Club near Leeds.

Lyth made his Test debut this May against New Zealand, going on to score his maiden England century in the next Test at Headingley, before making his Ashes debut at Cardiff in July. Given his fondness for the fairways, the England opener selected Mizuno to experience a full-club fitting with PGA Professional Whitaker at its Moor Allerton Performance Centre between Test matches in July. The left-hander ended up with almost a full complement of JPX clubs, (JPX 850 driver, 3 wood and Hybrid, JPX 850 forged irons and MP-T5 wedges) enthusing about the Moor Allerton set-up on his Twitter feed and admitting that he “can’t wait to use them”.

The JPX 850 driver features Mizuno’s Next Generation FastTrack sliding weight system that allows golfers to tailor clubhead set-up to their personal launch conditions, while the JPX Forged irons are Boron-forged, paving the way for a thinner clubface to boost ball speeds. MP-T5 wedges, inspired by the tour grind of short-game maestro, Luke Donald, are available in 25 loft//bounce combinations, with two sole types to suit differing techniques and playing conditions.

Mizuno’s original spirit and desire was simply to “create the best products for consumers”. The JPX range offers the best performance benefits that modern technology can bring, while still adhering to the spirit and desire that the brand has held so dear for nearly 110 years. #NothingFeelsLikeAMizuno.
