Reader Review - Srixon AD333

By: Golf Shake | Wed 17 Jun 2015

Srixon entered the ball market in the 2000's with a range of new golf balls and a plan to go with it. They wanted to create a 2-piece ball that would prove to be a great solution for the every day golfer combining affordability with performance. In 2015 is fair to say they have gone some way to achieving their goal with the AD333 is the most popular 2-peice ball in the UK today.

So, just how well does the AD333 perform? We sent three Golfshake readers out on the course at Studley Wood GC to Srixon AD333put them to the test:

What Srixon say about the AD333

AD333 is the perfect combination of distance off the tee and spin control around the green and is Srixon’s most advanced 2 piece ball to date

The AD333 is now even longer than ever thanks to the improved large Energetic Gradient Growth™ core, giving the ball a firmer outer layer, which becomes progressively softer towards the centre. This core structure creates explosive ball speed off the tee with reduced spin for maximum distance.

The Srxion AD333 also features Spin Skin Technology, as first produced on their premium Z-STAR range, as a result the AD333 offers even greater control and spin on approach shots and a superior soft feel.

Feel

Jim Parkes 10 Handicap - The Srixon AD333 feels fine off the club but as a harder shell feels like less compression off the face.

James Dawson 15 Handicap-  The ball was soft and responsive. During chip and flop shots it would land soft with some roll out. I felt the ball was suitable to players who preferred more roll when around the greens as when I attacked the flags, it wouldn't spin and hold as much as I would have liked.

Phil Eadsforth 11 handicapBall feels OK.

Performance

JimGood distance off tee and fairway, didn't feel any loss off distance in comparison to my normal softer ball. Didnt feel like I had the control around the green and balls tended not to hold the green

JamesThe ball performed well and is something I could easily get used to and play with. However, knowing there are balls out there which I feel I could better attack flags with, I'm not sure this would be my first choice ball.

Phil - Performs as well as any other standard 2 piece.

Pros

Jim - Visually a nice ball with good distance from tee and fairway

JamesNice soft, responsive, feel to the ball

Phil  - Has set the standard for a 2 piece ball. I already use this ball as a good winter ball plus it had a good feel round the practice green

Cons

Jim - Less spin around the green

James - Slightly more roll out on soft shots around the green than I would have preferred.

PhilThe Srixon AD333 is an OK ball, but not premium quality, however I would happily use.

The Bottom Line

Jim - A good ball, a great value. You can't really go wrong with this one!

James  - A top quality ball which is soft off the face and responsive. I could get use to this but it wouldn't be my first choice compared to Tour version.

Phil - A good all round ball that I would happily use, especially in the winter.
