Oceânico Old Course Maintains ‘Best Golf Course in Portugal’ Honour
Readers of UK golf magazine Today’s Golfer have voted Oceânico Old Course ‘Best Course in Portugal’ for a fourth consecutive year in the annual Travel Awards – created to credit the world’s most esteemed golf resorts.
“To be voted Best Golf Course in Portugal for a fourth consecutive year is recognition of the continued commitment to quality service at a signature golf destination,” said Chris Stilwell, CEO, Oceânico Golf.
“In a competitive category of world-class venues, the accolade is a true testament to the Oceânico Golf team’s on-site delivery and an ability to retain the Frank Pennick design as a firm favourite for British and international golfers.”
He added: “We are proud to continue to capture the attention of golf lovers worldwide, and would like to thank everyone who voted.”
Heralded the Grande Dame of Algarve courses, the multi-award-winning par 73, 6254m Oceânico Old Course is one of the oldest courses in the region and renowned all over the world. Opened in 1969, the traditional parkland layout meanders through pine trees over undulating terrain and provides golfers with an enjoyable test of accuracy.
As befits a course of this quality, a refined clubhouse and restaurant offer golfers the chance to enjoy a post-round refreshment and quality service.
In addition to Portugal’s number one course, the Oceânico Golf portfolio offers six further championship courses in the Algarve, including – Oceânico Victoria (host of the Portugal Masters since 2007), Oceânico Pinhal, Oceanico Laguna, Oceânico Millennium in Vilamoura and the newest near Silves, Oceânico Faldo Course and Oceânico O´Connor Jnr. course at Amendoeira Golf Resort, complemented by the unique floodlit 9 hole par 3 Oceânico Academy course.
Oceânico Group is set to showcase its first-rate facilities throughout a full calendar of events in 2015, including the return of the European Tour’s Portugal Masters, Oceânico World Kids Golf Championship and the Grande Troféu Vilamoura 2015.
