Tour Edge celebrating following recent awards

By: Golf Shake | Thu 22 May 2014

tour edgeTour Edge Exotics has put dozens of big-name brands in the shade in the recent mygolfspy.com ‘most wanted' awards.

The unsung manufacturer - which refuses to pay professional golfers to endorse it's products, yet has many in use on the PGA Tour - was the only brand to have two clubs in the test's top five ‘fairway woods distance awards'. And it's XCG7 was ranked number one for swing speeds lower than 100mph - the average speed of an amateur male golfer being around 80-92mph.

The website stated: "… it's the standard model's performance among lower-swing-speed players that's one of the stories of this test. Nearly 10 yards longer than our control club for lower speed guys; if you can't get above 100 on the radar, well, then the XCG7 needs to be on your radar."

Exotics CB Pro came third overall in the ‘distance awards' with the website's reviewers stating: "We absolutely love the Tour Edge Exotics CB Pro. It offers traditional style, some new technology, and one hell of a stock shaft (Fujikura Speeder). As is often the case with Tour Edge, they've offered up the best alternative to the big brands … with it's Slip Stream sole, the Tour Edge CB Pro may have some real advantages outside and out of deeper grass."

It added: "All of this reaffirms what we've known all along. Tour Edge is really good at making fairway woods."

It was the 13.5 degree three-wood CB Pro that was played by Chris Kirk when he claimed this season's McGladrey Classic on the PGA Tour. And JB Holmes used Tour Edge Exotics CB Pro hybrids when he triumphed in the recent PGA Tour Wells Fargo Championship.

The success of the fairway woods in the ‘most wanted' awards on mygolfspy.com follows on from similar accolades awarded to the brand's drivers earlier in the year.

The Tour Edge XCG7 was ranked seventh overall and second for swing speeds in excess of 100mph. One of the reviewers wrote: "One of my personal favorites (sic) in the test, the Tour Edge XCG7 is a driver that needs to be on your demo list. We loved what we saw from a distance perspective (particularly in the Beta head), and the accuracy numbers are nearly as good as anything else in the test. What don't we like about the XCG7? Nothing.

"The standard model is good, but for high-speed, high-spin players we can't say enough about the XCG7 Beta. It's an absolute must-try that probably won't get the attention it deserves."

The brand's exceptional performance in these rankings should not come as too much of a surprise to keen observers of the golf hardware market, for, earlier this year, Tour Edge - which is now on full release in the UK - stunned it's big-name rivals with six of it's clubs hailed in the Golf Digest Hot List for 2014, with two gold and four silver medals in the magazine's prestigious annual benchmark supplement.

All Tour Edge Exotics products feature the lifetime warranty and 30-day play guarantee.

Prices start at £149, for the hybrids; £219, fairway woods; £299, drivers.
