SpeedBlade Lob Wedge & ATV Wedge Reviews

By: Golf Shake | Wed 20 Nov 2013

Post and review from sports journalist and golf fanatic Derek Clements.

ATV WedgesATV Wedge

I have had a 58-degree ATV wedge in my bag for a while. ATV stands for All-Terrain Versatility and was designed to be used to play a variety of shots - chips, pitches, explosion shots, out of the rough, off hard, tight lies, on flop shots and bump-and-runs. The ATV sole is designed to excel at each one.

The ATV sole is slightly convex (it bows inward), and there's significant relief at the toe and heel. That reduces resistance and changes how the sole reacts with turf and sand, depending on how the club is positioned and how much the face is opened.

You won’t find a bounce number on the ATV clubhead because the sole takes on different bounces depending on how you position it for the shot you’re hitting and how much you open the face. It is  the most versatile club in my bag. It is fitted with Lamkin’s latest wedge grip, which extends further down the shaft, giving improved feel when you choke down for added clubhead control.

SpeedBlade lob wedge

SpeedBlade wedges feature classic tour blade design - available as an attack wedge (50 degrees), sand wedge (55 degrees) and lob wedge (60 degrees), they are finished in dark grey. The sand wedge and lob wedge feature TaylorMade's All Terrain Versatility sole to promote feel, spin and control from a variety of lies and are fitted with heavier than standard steel shafts for improved performance and consistency. They look good and they perform superbly.
