Faldo Series Champion Set For European Tour Debut

By: Golf Shake | Thu 25 Jul 2013

Reigning Faldo Series Champion Jack Singh-BrarReigning Faldo Series Champion Jack Singh-Brar will make his European Tour debut when he lines up in the Russian Open at Tseleevo Golf and Polo Club in Moscow, Russia on July 25-28.

“I’m really excited about playing in my first Tour event and am very thankful to Sir Nick for setting up this opportunity,” said 16-year-old Singh-Brar from Hampshire in England.  “This experience will give me a huge advantage as most players my age never get this chance.”

“Winning last year’s Faldo Series Grand Final has opened so many doors for me and changed my career as a golfer,” added Singh-Brar, who will defend his Faldo Series title in October at The Greenbrier in West Virginia, USA.
Sir Nick Faldo arranged the invitation for the England international through the European Tour, which lends its support to the six-time Major winner’s global golf development programme.

“I’d like to thank Tseleevo and the European Tour for supporting golf development through the Faldo Series and for giving our Champion this unique opportunity,” said Faldo.  “Jack was a worthy winner of the Grand Final in September and I’m sure he will benefit greatly from this experience.”

Singh-Brar won the 2012 Faldo Series Europe title at Lough Erne Resort in Northern Ireland last September by two shots and then went on to finish second in the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final at Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen, China in March.

Supported by The R&A, ISPS Handa and the European Tour, the 2013 Faldo Series Europe schedule features a record 20 tournaments in 15 countries including six in England plus others in Ireland, Abu Dhabi, Chile, the Czech Republic, Scotland, Austria, Wales, Brazil, Italy, The Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia, Greece and the USA.

Established in 1996, 40 Faldo Series tournaments now take place in 30 countries worldwide with more than 7,000 golfers participating each year.  Past winners include Major Champions Rory McIlroy and Yani Tseng.

In September 2014, Faldo will begin taking students at a full-time residential academy for education and golf development in America.  The first ever Faldo Series Academy in Casa Grande, Arizona marks another significant step in the programme’s history.
