Nike Golf Rolls Out New European Tour Truck

By: Golf Shake | Fri 28 Jun 2013

Nike GolfNike Golf has extended its commitment to its growing Tour Staff athletes with a brand new, state of the art Tour support vehicle for the European Tour.

On the surface, it is a symbol of Nike Golf’s design and engineering excellence, adorned with the Nike Golf logo.  Inside, those high standards will be put to the test every day servicing the club needs of Nike’s Tour staff athletes in Europe. The new Tour truck will be Nike Golf’s testing facility, equipment stock room, meeting space, workshop on wheels and billboard, all rolled into one. The company will utilise every inch of the 16.5 metre long vehicle, both inside and outside, as it travels from tour stop to tour stop throughout the season.

Peter Powell, Nike Golf European Tour technician will continue to be responsible for all technical elements on board the new truck which is outfitted with state of the art precision machinery, components and tools to custom build Nike Golf clubs and modify, re-grip or repair individual clubs on-site. Every element of the Tour truck’s functionality is designed to save time for Nike Golf’s sports marketing team, which in turn enhances the service provided for its athletes.

“Our first Tour truck became a necessity to service our growing stable of athletes when we launched hardware into the range more than 10 years ago,” said Robin Murray, Nike Golf’s EMEA sports marketing director. “Over the past decade we have grown tremendously as a brand and added more athletes to our team. We have extended the workshop area to accommodate two technicians and now have the space and storage on the new truck to carry more stock.  We are set up to address the needs of every player on-site whether it is building a whole new set of irons, a general service issue or an emergency. Investing the future of the European Tour is key to the continued success of Nike Golf and our new Tour home reinforces our commitment to this.”

The truck also carries all of Nike's other products such as gloves, balls, shoes, apparel and accessories to make sure that athletes have the best available service on the Tour.

Alongside the fully equipped workshop there is a meeting room and lounge area for the athletes and staff to work and relax in when at an event. Comprising of satellite TV, a larger than life audio system, a games console and a Wi-Fi enabled work area it is a place where people can relax away from the stresses of life on Tour.

The vehicle dimensions are: Length 16.5 metres, Width 2.5 metres, Height 4 metres, Weight 28 tonnes.
