Following the recent news that he ruptured his left Achilles tendon at home, an injury that required surgery, it was most unlikely that Tiger Woods would be making his 27th appearance at The Masters in April, but the tournament has seemingly now confirmed that he won't be a competitor this year.

On Tuesday 18th March, the tournament's invitee list was updated and Woods - a five-time champion - was moved to the bottom of the page alongside other past winners who won't be competing in 2025.

Just a week ago, Woods revealed on social media details of his latest setback: "As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured.

"This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon. "The surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery," added Dr. Stucken.

"I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab, thank you for all the support."

It's a reality that is sure to disappoint his many fans and the legendary golfer himself, but it's unsurprising that such an injury and necessary recovery time would prevent him from taking on the many undulations of Augusta National.

Tiger Woods Masters

Woods hasn't played in a PGA Tour event since The Open Championship at Royal Troon in July. He finished runner-up - alongside son Charlie - in December's PNC Championship, and has been part of the inaugural season of the indoor TGL Golf League.

The 49-year-old has also had to contend with the sudden death of his mother, Kultida, with Woods recently saying (before his injury) that his "heart is not really into practicing right now."

Last year, Woods made the cut at The Masters, setting the record for most consecutive cuts made at Augusta, at 24, but sadly he won't be attempting to emulate that feat next month.
