Cleveland Golf Launches New HiBore XL Drivers

By: Golfshake Editor | Mon 18 Nov 2024

Cleveland Golf has brought back one of its most iconic designs in the form of the all-new HiBore XL Drivers, which have deployed Artificial Intelligence to create its unique, triangular chassis, while enhancing forgiveness and maximising distance.

Joe Miller, European Product Manager at Cleveland Golf, said: "As our R&D research has developed hand in hand with advancements of our A.I. simulation capabilities, the realisation came that removing the constraints of a ‘traditional’ looking Driver shape would allow for new and exciting performance opportunities. By taking advantage of the unique HiBore philosophy of a performance first design, we were able to unlock levels of forgiveness and distance that weren't possible before. But there is one key difference with the new model compared to that of the past. It also sounds great!"

What You Need to Know

The HiBore XL Drivers

The all-new HiBore XL Drivers feature a mould-breaking triangular chassis and sharp geometric angles, specifically engineered to optimise forgiveness, distance, and sound. Leveraging A.I. simulation, Cleveland Golf engineers narrowed the chassis to maintain the desired head volume, placed weight low and deep, and tapered the rear of the driver to create its defined shape and help support HiBore XL’s extra-large face.

Because of HiBore XL’s larger face profile, this translates into an expanded sweet spot for players with a 19% increase in size compared to the brand’s previous driver in the Launcher XL 2. As a result, off-centre hits are less penalising, while solid contact leads to improved ball speed, straighter ball flights, and longer drives.

ActivWing, a new technology for Cleveland Golf, was placed at the heel of the crown to enhance consistency at impact. The airfoil design provides added stability in the downswing, leading to better downrange performance and distance consistency.

Tracing back to the original HiBore Driver to now, most drivers include some form of internal ribbing to control their sound. For this generation, HiBore XL’s triangular footprint allows for an audibly optimised response. The increased stiffness in the sole and crown reduces vibration, resulting in an improved sound profile at impact.

HiBore XL Lite

For amateur golfers seeking to improve their slicing tendencies and increase clubhead speed, Cleveland Golf offers the HiBore XL Lite. Built with the same focused design and technological features as its counterpart, the HiBore XL Lite is an ultralight option with a slight draw bias. The MainFrame XL in the lighter option optimises the balance of draw bias and forgiveness, maintaining MOI and ball speed benefits, even with concentrated weight in the heel.

Adjustability

One of the major advancements in the HiBore XL line is the enhanced adjustability options. The HiBore XL Driver features a 12g adjustable weight at the rear of the club, allowing players to customise the swing weight according to their preference. Additionally, both the HiBore XL and HiBore XL Lite come equipped with Cleveland Golf’s new 1.5 degree adjustable hosel sleeve, providing even more options to fine-tune the driver’s loft, face, and lie angles.

Additional Features

  • MainFrame XL: This remapped, A.I. optimised variable thickness pattern maximises flex at impact to enlarge and reshape the sweet spot, improving energy transfer across the face for added forgiveness, consistency, and ball speed.
  • Action Mass CB: An 8g weight is tucked into the end of the shaft to counterbalance the club for more control without extra effort. The counterweight helps the club feel lighter on takeaway and stay stable through impact.

Pricing & Availability

  • HiBore XL, HiBore XL Lite: £399
  • Launch Date: 6th December 2024

HALO XL Lite Fairway Woods

HALO XL Lite Fairway Woods

Alongside these new drivers, golfers can discover the all-new HALO XL Lite Fairway Woods from Cleveland Golf, which offer moderate swing speed players a long-game option to achieve maximum distance with ease, in a gently modified version from the standard HALO XL Fairway Woods.

What You Need to Know

The HALO XL Lite Fairway Woods feature a lighter clubhead, increased loft, and modified internal weighting, all working together to help players generate more speed in their swings and achieve greater distance.

Joe Miller, European Product Manager at Cleveland Golf, commented: "The HALO XL Lite is a great solution for those who want to add more power without the need to swing harder. Due to its lighter profile and additional 1.5 degrees of loft, golfers are going to get that higher launch and boosted distance, all while having the same technology features as the standard model for consistent performance."

To ensure optimal performance with every strike, the HALO XL Lite Fairway Woods incorporate the same cutting-edge technologies found in the standard HALO XL Fairway models. The upgraded GlideRail sole technology guarantees optimal turf interaction, while the new MainFrame XL Face uses a variable thickness pattern to maximise flex at impact and boost distance.

A key enhancement in the HALO XL Lite is the repositioning of weight within the clubhead. This strategic weight placement provides added forgiveness and consistency, allowing golfers to hit their shots with confidence.

Additional Lofts

In addition to the HALO XL Lite Fairway Woods, Cleveland Golf is announcing two extended loft options for their HALO XL Hy-Woods: 5+ and 6+. The HALO XL Hy-Wood is a speciality club that combines the best elements of a hybrid design with Fairway Wood distance. This versatile club provides golfers with an easy-to-swing option that guarantees maximum distance and helps maintain proper gapping at the top of the bag.

Features & Benefits

  • XL Head Design: An improved XL Head Design with low and deep weighting, players can enjoy long, high-launching ball flight with plenty of forgiveness.
  • Rebound Frame: With two alternating flex zones acting in-sync, Rebound Frame directs more energy into the ball for speed and distance on every shot.
  • Action Mass CB: An 8-gram weight tucked into the end of the shaft, counterbalances the club for more control without extra effort. This counterweight helps the club feel lighter on the takeaway and stay stable through impact.

Pricing & Availability

  • HALO XL Lite Fairway Wood: £249
  • HALO XL Hy-Wood: £239
  • Launch Date: 22nd February 2025
