Improve Your Game With New Golfshake Fitness & Training Coach

By: Golfshake Editor | Fri 01 Nov 2024

"Play More, Play Better" is our motto so we are delighted to introduce Jon Hodgkinson, as the new Golfshake Fitness & Training Coach.

Jon is a Titleist Performance Institute certified personal trainer and biomechanics coach specialising in improving flexibility, rotation, and strength.

Following his training will also help you ward off those niggling injuries that impair performance and keep you off the course.

So he’s a perfect fit for our community of golfers who want to improve their game and play for longer.

Jon Hodgkinson

Over the coming months Jon will explain how improving your fitness, flexibility and range of movement is vital for your game.

Areas that Jon is going to cover include:

  • Key areas golfers need to address to prevent lower back pain
  • The optimal way to warm-up before a round
  • Exercises to improve rotation
  • Golf fitness for over 50s
  • How to safely gain speed and distance
  • Exercises and workouts to improve your golf at home

About Jon

Jon, who plays off a handicap of 5, has been coaching for more than 10 years and has helped scores of golfers improve their movement, reduce pain and get fit.

He has recently relocated to a 2000 sq ft facility, purpose-built for golf training in Dronfield, North Derbyshire.

Inside is a large fitness training suite, two treatment rooms for sports massage and physio work, shower and changing facilities, and a golf simulator for use by clients.

Golf Fitness

Jon’s team includes personal trainer Ben Vandrill and sports therapist Reece Allen, both of whom are currently working on their TPI qualifications. The team is completed by Will Owen, the business director responsible for sales, marketing and systems.

"It’s great - we can now provide everything a golfer needs to improve all under one roof," said Jon.

Jon’s ambition is to help Golfshake subscribers, particularly, but not exclusively, in the 45-65 age group.

"“As we age, unfortunately, we suffer more injuries, lose distance off the tee, and struggle to get into ideal positions in the golf swing," said Jon.

"Our training programmes are designed to improve your rotation, flexibility, and stability so you can play to the best of your potential for as long as possible."

Those who want a personalised golf fitness programme are advised to get in touch with the team to book a Golf Fitness Evaluation at their facility.

But the online advice through Golfshake is a perfect introduction and should be an essential part of your winter programme.

Jon and the team have their own YouTube Channel and other social media platforms to give golfers an insight into how they work.
