Seed Golf Ball Review - An Affordable Tour Level Alternative?
Golfshake Equipment expert Ryan Rastall recently tested out three Seed golf ball models: SD-01, SD-02, and SD-X1 at Howley Hall Golf Club in Leeds. The Seed golf balls are designed and engineered to be tour-level golf balls offered at a more affordable price point as part of their unique direct to consumer sales strategy.
Seed Golf was established in 2017 with the goal of providing high-quality, Tour-standard golf balls at a more reasonable cost for everyday golfers. Today, it is the leading direct-to-consumer brand for golf balls in both the Irish and UK markets.
The range of Seed Golf balls can either be purchased online directly or through one of their subscription-based services, starting with a £20/€25 trial pack and can be shipped to 44 countries and growing. During our testing all 3 models can be purchased online with an RRP of £30.
Find out what Ryan thought and how he got on in the video below, where he put each ball to the test in a variety of situations on the course, including driving, approach shots, chipping, and putting. He then took the testing indoors with Trackman to further evaluate their performance.
Seed SD-01 - Pro One
The 3rd Generation SD-01 builds upon the success of the original design with enhanced performance and improved features. The 3-piece tour construction ball features a urethane cover and aims to deliver a tour launch & tracjectory whilst still providing spin and soft feel for responsive feedback. The SD-01 is a comparable golf ball to the Pro V1
Seed SD-X1 - Pro X1
The SD-X1 golf ball aims to provide a more penetrating ball flight whilst still deliver tour level distance with soft feel and spin. The SD-X1 is a good comparison to the TP5 and CSx golf balls.
Seed SD-02 - Pro Tour
The SD-02 is a 4-piece golf ball optimised to provide slightly lower launch and spin whilst maximising distance. The ball is slightly firmer and comparable to the TP5x and ChrometourX
