10 Picks to Win The Open 2023
Here are the 10 players we believe are most likely to be in the mix come the final round at Royal Liverpool.
Rory McIlroy
Come on Rory, this is your moment. You won The Open here, you have the entire crowd backing you and you are playing really well. Now let’s get out there and end this major drought.
Tommy Fleetwood

Fleetwood is a links specialist and was born just across the River Mersey. Playing well again, and this is a golf course that is made for him.
Scottie Scheffler
The world number one is having another fabulous season. It’s not just the two wins that are impressive - there is simply no more consistent golfer anywhere on the planet.
Brooks Koepka
Back to his very best. He has already won the US PGA this season. Koepka is fully fit and he certainly doesn’t lack confidence. A win here will leave him just requiring The Masters to complete the career grand slam.
Tyrrell Hatton
Love him or hate him, Hatton is impossible to ignore. Once again, he is enjoying a decent season on the PGA Tour. If he can keep his head together he must have a fighter’s chance.
Viktor Hovland
Hovland has no weaknesses and, like Scheffler, is an incredibly consistent performer. He is a certain future major winner and looks to have the perfect game to win The Open.
Cameron Young
Finished second at St Andrews last year in what was a spectacular rookie season. Brilliant ball striker, with a great short game and a splendid temperament. Can he win? Of course he can.
Rickie Fowler
How good was it to see Fowler complete his first win in more than four years at the Rocket Mortgage Classic? He has been on the way back for some time now and is the form horse coming to Hoylake.
Jon Rahm
Made a sensational start to the year and briefly reclaimed the top spot in the world rankings. He has wobbled somewhat in recent weeks but could turn it all around at the drop of a hat.
Patrick Cantlay
The American is a former FedEx Cup champion and has won some big tournaments, including The Memorial on two occasions. So we know he can master tough courses. But his record in the majors is poor.
