The Most Forgiving Drivers of 2021
There are so many drivers on the market to choose from, with manufacturers releasing a variety each year. However, while that can present some confusion, it does make it far more likely that golfers will discover the correct model for their game.
Indeed, what is suitable for the better player won't cater for the majority of us who require that extra little bit of help on the course. So, after first picking out the Best Drivers of 2021, identifying the most forgiving drivers is a task that we handed to Golfshake Equipment Expert, Ryan Rastall.
Selecting a pick of the finest, Ryan's expert comment and analysis can find the right driver for you!
Callaway EPIC Max
Callaway’s EPIC Max driver has not only improved on overall performance, but also benefits those who struggle off the tee. ‘The ultimate max driver’, the EPIC Max has been constructed to improve ball speeds from the off. The Jailbreak Speed Frame improves stability in both horizontal and torsional direction which result in increased speed regardless of quality of impact. Self-proclaimed by Callaway as their ‘most forgiving driver of the EPIC series’, the Max delivers on consistent off-centre ball strikes.
The advanced aerodynamic head construction encourages lower drag, which subsequently increases the head speed. With a flight bias of draw + adjustable, if slicing the driver is an unwanted trait of yours, the EPIC Max’s flight bias can help keep your ball in play and thus, improve scores. With a maxforgiveness rating, this driver will certainly help golfers of all abilities
Specs:
- Head Size – 460cc
- Loft – 9.0, 10.5, 12
What Golfshake Say:
“This driver will be the most forgiving of the three and Callaway have said it is the most forgiving EPIC driver ever. They’ve achieved this by making the footprint slightly larger, which results in more weight at the back of the club."

PING G425 Max
PING have previously been known for their generosity in building forgiving drivers, but the manufacturer may have outdone themselves with the G425 Max - which elevates the moment of inertia to PING’s highest level in history. The forgiveness of the driver derives from a 26-gram tungsten moveable weight, which directly benefits the club’s Dragonfly Crown Technology.
The Max pushes the total MOI to a record 10,000 – where the 26-gram tungsten weight is largely responsible for the ground-breaking improvement. The refined crown turbulators reduce aerodynamic drag, resulting in further increases of both swing speed and ball velocity. If you stand over the tee with even an ounce of doubt, then PING’s G425 Max can help the sport of golf seem more effortless.
Specs:
- Loft – 9.0, 10.5, 12.0
- Head Size – 460cc
What Golfshake Say:
“A slightly bigger head and bigger footprint, this is the highest MOI driver in the line. It will be the most forgiving and it will also allow you to move the weight further back in the head."

COBRA Radspeed XB
COBRA continue to introduce ground-breaking technology in the construction of their drivers, and this year is no different. The COBRA Radspeed XB features an oversized (460cc) shape and back-biased radial weighting which delivers the longest but also the most forgiving ball flight – all with reduced spin.
With 20 grams of back-biased radial weighting, faster ball speeds will see the ball carry further. Moreover, by increasing the distance between the back and front weights, COBRA have been able to create maximum stability whilst not compromising forgiveness from off-centre strikes. A final 8g weight has been situated in the front to further assist with less spin for faster ball speeds and, as a consequence, longer drives!
Specs:
- Performance – longest and most forgiving of the series
- Loft – 9.0, 10.5, 12
What Golfshake Say:
“This driver will suit the vast majority of golfers and the higher percentage of market available. I’d expect this one to be the one that COBRA sell the most of this year. Whilst the premium Radspeed is good, it may be a little too low spin for some players."

TaylorMade SIM2 Max
The SIM2 Max driver is for players who struggle to get the ball launching with a higher apex. If you’re looking for assistance in that area - and a compromise of distance is non-negotiable for you - then the SIM2 Max driver provides just that. Having completely rebuilt the driver from the ground up, this year’s releases will provide users with greater distance whilst forgiveness remains at the forefront of the design.
The Speed Injected Twist Face improves ball speed by calibrating each head to the threshold of the legal limit. Corrective face curvature also protects against heel and toe mis-hits. The SIM2 Max driver has been constructed to help give users limitless confidence on the tee box and will surely be a popular hit amongst all golfers.
Specs:
- Loft – 9.0, 10.5, 12.0
- Head Size – 460cc
What Golfshake Say:
“A much heavier weight of 24g towards the back of the driver will help to resist the twisting through impact and if we do not hit the middle of the face, we are still going to get that bit more forgiveness and stability from the driver."
