Adidas CodeChaos Golf Shoe Review
REVIEW: Adidas CodeChaos Golf Shoe
Review by Golfshake Ambassador Kevin Paver
The last few years has seen Adidas create some seriously impressive golf shoes… last year’s Tour 360 was in fact one of the best golf shoes I have ever worn. So, when I got my hands on the new CodeChaos to test, they sure had a tough act to follow.
Adidas say the new CodeChaos is designed for those who set themselves apart on the course. Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf said: “We're excited about this movement which has inspired us to break down barriers and create unique footwear and apparel for anyone that picks up a club. CODECHAOS is meant to challenge what a golf shoe can look and feel like while still delivering top-notch performance to all golfers whenever or wherever they play.”
Looks
When you first get the CodeChaos in your hands, it's immediately apparent how visually unique these shoes are, and for sure, they will not suit everyone. I tested the white / signal green version, which I have really learned to love. The good news is, there are plenty of colourway options available, so if you prefer a more traditional colour, Adidas have got you covered.
The upper is a multi-layer mesh design, which has a kind of film over the top that isn’t just for aesthetics - it helps with waterproofing. It also helps make them super easy to clean.
Feel
You will not be disappointed with the way this shoe feels when you first put it on. You’ll notice the Inside Sockliner immediately as it wraps around your feet. It also features a FitFoam insole and BOOST technology that has been so popular for Adidas for many years.
The CodeChaos definitely has that trainer like feel, which has become ever popular within the golf shoe market. It’s super lightweight too, so if 36 holes in a day tickles your fancy, these will absolutely do the job with comfort in abundance.
Performance
Now onto the important stuff… how do these perform out on the course? The grip is super, especially given this is a moulded sole. There’s a lot of tech in the design here, so I would expect nothing less. The twist grip and traxion hybrid sole was developed following research on how golfers distribute their weight throughout the golf swing, and it does a super job of keeping you stable.
Of course, a golf shoe needs to not just deliver during the swing, it also needs to deliver walking the best part of five miles (depending how straight you hit it!), and the CodeChaos certainly hit the mark.
These are the kind of shoe you can put on at home, drive to the course, shoot level par and leave them on in the bar afterwards!
Pros
A super good golf shoe stacked with performance and striking looks. I also think you are getting a lot of golf shoe for your money.
Cons
The style of the CodeChaos is not going to be to everyone’s taste.
Bottom Line
The CodeChaos is a super golf shoe. Unbelievably good comfort that doesn’t compromise on performance. For a spikeless golf shoe, there won’t be many that can compete with these, especially at this price point. There are lots of styles and colours available too, including a Boa version.
