New Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x Interview
Coming 18 years after the historic debut, Titleist has launched new Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls for this season, which have been engineered to deliver increased speed and lower spin for greater distances with extra attention paid to delivering the best short game control for golfers.
Taking the huge popularity of the balls into consideration, making improvements without undermining the established attributes was a potentially tricky endeavour, but Titleist has looked to increase speed while maintaining the performance and scoring characteristics that have defined the Pro V1.
When it comes to subtle differences between the Pro V1 and Pro V1x, golfers will note that the latter flies higher and spins more on long iron shots, but the former remains the flagship product, and the one that you’ll generally see players on tour adopt throughout the coming weeks and months.
During the PGA Merchandise Show, Golfshake’s Ryan Rastall had the chance to meet Titleist’s Michael Mahoney, the Vice President of Golf Ball Marketing, to learn more about the new releases, to understand the enhancements and differences from previous launches, and to gain a greater insight behind the engineering process to make a judgement on which is best for your game.
