How to Watch the US PGA Championship
FOR the second successive year, you will not be able to watch the US PGA Championship on Sky Sports. They lost out last year to the BBC, a move that upset a lot of golf fans, who continue to believe that the national broadcaster isn’t really interested in covering golf properly now.
And those who followed last year’s tournament were left feeling pretty short-changed. When Sky covers a major it does so from first shot to last, with all-singing, all-dancing coverage, player interviews, interaction with fans, sessions with players on the driving range and, quite simply, the best all-round coverage to be had.
Yes, there are those who moan about the adverts, but most of us can live with that. Last year the Beeb wheeled out Peter Alliss yet again and gave us restricted coverage of the final major of the year. So for 2018, the championship is not being shown on either mainstream or satellite TV. Instead, it is being streamed via the Eleven Sports website.
Eleven Sports will allow free access to the event, which will be held at Bellerive Country Club in Missouri from August 9-12. They said: “There will be three ways to watch the action on Eleven Sports. All four rounds will be shown live and free of charge through a seven-day trial on the Eleven Sports website, and on iOS and Android mobile and tablet apps. The first two rounds will also be streamed for free on Facebook Live through the Eleven Sports UK page.”
Eleven Sports promises at least eight and a half hours of continuous live golf on each day throughout the tournament, as well as highlights available on the website. The coverage will be presented by the excellent Dominik Holyer and Anna Whiteley.
