Tiger's Incredible Record at Firestone
Tiger Woods' memorable run in the recent Open Championship at Carnoustie - where he eventually finished in a tie for sixth - was enough to see him edge back into the Top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking, securing his place at Firestone Country Club and the WGC Bridgestone Invitational, an event and venue he has won at on eight occasions.
However, this year marks the end of Firestone's long association with the PGA Tour, dating back to the 1950s. This tournament moves to Memphis in 2019 and becomes the WGC-FedEx Invitational, while the SENIOR PLAYERS Championship on the PGA Tour Champions will carry on the tradition of tour golf at Firestone.
2018 WGC Bridgestone Invitational Preview & Picks
Not the most dynamic of layouts - the great Jack Nicklaus described the South Course at Firestone as being "a great golf course, but it’s a boring golf course because, although each hole is outstanding on its own, when you put them all together it seems like you’re playing the same one over and over, and so you have to be careful not to fall asleep.”
However, for Woods, it holds a special place in his heart. We take a look back at his extraordinary victories at Firestone.
