Playing the Legendary Himalayas Putting Course at St Andrews
Located just feet away from the Old Course, the St Andrews Ladies' Putting Club is a hugely popular attraction with visitors to the town seeking a taste of golf. Better known as The Himalayas - referencing the incredible undulations that define the putting course - this unique and imaginative layout has become iconic and is tremendous fun for golfers (and even non-golfers) of all ages.
Founded in 1867, the Putting Club is open to the public daily from April to September - and March & October when conditions allow - and is welcome to everyone, no matter their experience or ability. Costing £3 for adults and £1 for children, it's a wonderfully accessible facility that provides the opportunity to enjoy golf in St Andrews, with the legendary links and town serving as a backdrop.
Each Wednesday, a new 18-hole setup is laid out across this extraordinary land, with course manager Kevin Mackie having the enviable power of placing the holes on the most daring of slopes, testing the skill and creativity of those playing.
Back in May, Team Golfshake had a chance to sample the Himalayas for themselves. Darren Ramowski, Owen Davies, and local resident Kieran Clark were joined by Golfshake A Golfing Odyssey Prize Winners. We hope this video provides just a bit of insight behind the fun that you can have when playing this amazing little course.
