About Mauritius
MAURITIUS is a little piece of paradise in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The climate is superb, with temperatures ranging from 23-28C all year round. When you are looking for a golf holiday, it may not be the first venue that springs to mind, but the island boasts some fabulous courses and all-inclusive golf resorts. And it is a great place to bring the family.
May to October, when the average temperature is "only" 24C is regarded as the low season, and that is when there are some great bargains to be found.
It is about 12 hours flying time from the UK and the population speak three languages - English, French and the local creole.
Heritage Le Telfair
Heritage Le Telfair is inspired by the Mauritian colonial architecture and the style of that time. The 5 * establishment is stunning and is infused with the charm and style of the colonial sugar plantation past. The property opens out onto a magnificent tropical garden through which the Citronniers river flows. Heritage Le Telfair immerses its guests in a very special atmosphere, embodying the charm and romanticism of yesteryear.
The hotel is a member of the “Small Luxury Hotels of the World” and can be considered exceptional in many ways: with personalised service, luxurious and spacious rooms decorated with fine white woodwork and a subtle, but constant reference to the décor and interiors of Mauritius in the 19th century it is truly one of a kind.
It has recently added the C Beach Club to its arsenal, an outstanding facility where you can enjoy a whole range of water activities as well as some wonderful al fresco dining.
The main restaurant, Annabella’s, is on the banks of the river with an open and interactive show-kitchen. The Gin’ja is a Pan Asian restaurant on the beach, the Château de Bel Ombre, an enchanting 19th century Manor house, the Seven Colours Energy Cuisine and the Infinity Blue, the main restaurant at the Heritage Awali next door.
Heritage Golf Club
Heritage Golf Club lies close to both Domaine de Bel Ombre and the Heritage hotels, a par 72 measuring 7,048 yards and designed by Peter Matkovich. The stunning layout It meanders among the hills and features a magnificent, turquoise lagoon.
The Heritage Golf Club is tough test, but considered very fair. It also has a nine-hole par three course, a double-ended grass driving range and a short game area, and you can have your golf swing analysed on computer for an enhanced learning experience. In November it will host the first tournament in Mauritius to be sanctioned by the European, Asian and Sunshine Tours.
