The Chevron Championship 2025 Preview
The first women's major championship of the season begins on Thursday at The Club at Carlton Woods in Texas, where the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course will stage the Chevron Championship for a third time.
Formerly played for decades at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, the event has been elevated since its recent move to the Lone Star State, with a massively increased prize fund and enhanced TV coverage providing this showpiece with the stature that it deserves.
Last year, it was Nelly Korda who secured her second major title in the midst of an extraordinary run of form on the LPGA Tour.

The American's success was her fifth consecutive victory - with two more to come later in the season. However, the remaining majors of 2024 proved to be disappointing for the world number one, who missed the cut at the US Women's Open and Women's PGA Championship, before a middling finish at The Evian preceded her challenge for the AIG Women's Open at St Andrews, where Korda led with five holes to play before struggling home as Lydia Ko became victorious at the Home of Golf.
Yet to win this campaign, Korda will return to Carlton Woods determined to defend her title, but faces a formidable challenge from the assembled field.
Jeeno Thitikul has been exceptionally consistent on the LPGA Tour in 2025 and finished in a tie for fourth here in 2023. The 22-year-old from Thailand won the LET's PIF Saudi Ladies International in February and the world number two may be Korda's likeliest obstacle this week.
Women's Open champion Lydia Ko has already won this year and could be a strong bet to grasp a fourth major title. The New Zealander won this event in its previous incarnation at Mission Hills but has yet to contend in two appearances in Texas.
The likes of Minjee Lee, Ayaka Furue and Jin Young Ko will expect to perform here, while American Lauren Coughlin has been in great form lately and finished strongly here 12 months ago.
Yealimi Noh and Angel Yin are both winners on the LPGA Tour in 2025 - and Yin has memories in this event of agonisingly losing a playoff to Lilia Vu. That course form may count for something as the weekend develops.
Charley Hull could be the brightest hope for European fans, but Swedes Ingrid Lindblad and Madelene Sagstrom have won the most recent tournaments and will feel confident of a positive start to their major season.
Amateurs are also part of this year's field, including Spain's Carla Bernat Escuder, recent winner of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, and England's Lottie Woad, the world number one.
The 2025 Chevron Championship will enjoy comprehensive coverage on Sky Sports in the UK & Republic of Ireland, providing yet another welcome dose of major golf.
