Take Part in the World's Biggest Golf Lesson
During lockdown, you may feel that it's hard to achieve anything significant, but here is a unique opportunity for golfers to play their part in setting a record for the world's biggest golf lesson, raising money for health charities in the process.
At 2pm BST on 5th May 2020, PGA golf professionals around the world will take to Instagram Live.
The golf pros will each give a putting lesson, and the number of live viewers they get on their Instagram will be added to the global total.
Renowned golf coach David Leadbetter will give a live talk just before the lesson begins, from his headquarters in Florida.
It’s all in aid of the NHS (National Health Service) in the UK and other health charities around the world, as key workers risk their own health to help others during the COVID-19 pandemic.
To take part in the world record attempt on May 5th, golfers should simply tune into their favourite golf coach on Instagram.
And the word is: share, share, share! Why not get your friends and family involved too?
PGA pros can register to take part on www.worldsbiggestgolflesson.com, and anyone who wishes to pledge their support can donate via the event’s JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/wbgl.
The current world record is 10,000 participants, but event organiser Gavin Grenville-Wood feels confident that May’s event will surpass that figure.
“There are tens of thousands of PGA golf professionals around the world, and these days many of them each have thousands of Instagram followers of their own” he said. “Using Instagram Live our participating golf pros will be able to reach a huge audience simultaneously. We hope to smash that record.
“Right now, the internet is helping us all to stay connected like never before. This is an opportunity for us all to have some fun, be part of something huge, and raise lots of money to support health workers around the world – including our own NHS here in the UK.”
The event is the brainchild of a group of golf coaches including Grenville-Wood, Paul Ring, Aaron Jones and Shane Kaye, plus golf coaching organisations Leadbetter Kids Golf, Sharpshooters Junior Golf, Golf Cubs, Pea Wea Golf and Colour Path Golf.
