Cleveland Huntington Beach Collection 4 Review

The Huntington Beach 4 is inspired by the beautiful setting of Cleveland Golf’s North America headquarters and features a classic design that has been revered for generations with modern innovations to help improve scoring.

Key features of this putter include a tour-proven shape and a Precision Milled Face that has a coarse, diamond-shaped milling pattern that is four times deeper than the previous Classic Collection Huntington Beach putters. This face increases friction for a truer, more consistent roll. It also has a softer feel through the use of soft, 304 Stainless Steel.

Owen Davies (+2 handicap)

This putter has a timeless head design but is a little long in the head for my taste. The face does look great with its super heavy milling but I was not a fan of the matte grey finish. It has a lovely feel off the face, which is nice and soft but as with all blade putters, you notice the mistakes more than with a mallet. The roll was okay, but I felt that there was a big difference in roll between centre and off-centre hits.

In my opinion, the putter was too light in the head and the balance was poor. It meant I struggled to just let the putter swing. The classic rubber pistol grip meant there wasn’t a lot not to like about it.

Josh Carr (5 handicap)

I enjoyed the traditional look of this putter, however for me it did seem slightly too long in the head and slightly lofted. Wherever I struck this putter it seemed to feel good, however miss-hits didn’t give a consistent roll. For me, the putter was slightly too toe heavy meaning I couldn’t find a consistent stroke and didn’t instill confidence. Also, the grip was slightly too square for me and didn’t feel good stood over the ball.

Darren Ramowski (20 handicap)

It has a nice look at address but definitely suits a more confident putter due to its size and alignment aid. It does however, offer a super feel and sound at impact. This gave a nice roll and speed, and mishits off the toe and heel performed well and offered feedback. The head had a nice weight but due to its size I struggled to get a consistent stroke. I liked the standard size grip with its soft, plasticity feel. It is a nice putter but for my handicap I require a more confidence-inspiring putter.
