No golf for me this weekend so can you all help me get a slight fix one way or another by letting me know where you played and how you got on?

Played at my local municipal course on me todd and shot my best ever score, 89.
Have regularly gone low 90's there in the last few months so I've been waiting for the magic 8 something and knew it would come there (course is only 5600 yards and includes 4 300 ish yard Par 4's).
Included a birdie at a Par 3. But of course all I can think about is that i 3 putted the final 3 holes and so the 89 should have been an 85/86. Love and hate this game in equal measure!!

Good stuff guys, I hope the reviews are going up for these courses ;-)

Sadly Matt I have very little good to say about the course i played other than the price is right ;-)

Didn't play today Matt, but glad to report I went over the range and hit a few dozen balls. Nothing special about that I hear you say. Well, 2 weeks ago I prolapsed two discs in my back during the G Tour round at Mottram Hall (on the second hole!), played on and locked up rigid afterwards. Three intensive physio sessions and lots of exercises and I got through the range session pain free. Result.

Played New Malton Golf Course in Cambridgeshire, the first totally organic golf course apparently.
Beautifully hot calm weather, made it a real slog. 55 first nine, 44 on the way in.

Was that the course that had the groupon deal recently??
What was it like?
Reply : Sun 2nd Oct 2011 09:39
Hi Matt,
Yes it was. The groupon turned out to be well worth it. Was chatting to the pro after my round and he gave our each of our group a voucher for a further discounted round and a free lesson. The course changed ownership 2 years ago and they are trying to boost membership.
I've played the course regularly over the past 10 years and this year I've seen a definite improvement in the quality of the course, particularly in the greens. Even the fairways are less lumpy than they used to be. I remember finishing rounds in the past and my feet felt like they had a thorough workout.
I believe that the course is excellent value for money even though it isn't the same quality as other courses in Cambridgeshire.

Its in Royston isnt it? You know if its far from Heydon Grange, there where I go a lot.
Stick a review up mate. I was going to get that deal on groupon but decided against it due to the reviews on here.

Yes, its a similar distance from Royston. I played Heydon Grange once about 6 years ago.I found it was quite stoney in places. One of the courses looked quite nice (I think it was the Cambridgeshire) but I didn't get to place that one. What are the courses like now? I wouldn't mind giving it another go one day.
I'll get that review up there.

The only problem with Heydon Grange now is stones in the bunkers (getting better tho)
I prefer the Herts and Essex courses as the Cambs seems to be quite bland but all in all all 3 are good courses.
I love the twilight rate over there £14.50 on weekends for 27 holes is a steal.

I played the monthly medal at my golf club, Stapleford Abbotts GC.
Played OK, with a couple of bad holes.
Shot 88 (net 76, so 4 over par).
Won't win anything but I won't be last!

Setting off to play Batchworth Park GC in less than an hour.
Never played here before, but my playing partner has a pairs match here soon, so were off for his practice round.

I played my local, Southern Valley. Wasn't really expecting anything spectacular, just wanted to get some practice in before I go for a golf weekend at Wokefield Park next week.
Started par, birdie, par and was extatic with that having come off the first with a 9 a few weeks ago. Everything seemed to go steady all day. Had a couple of penalties for lost balls but was happy with my overall game.
I was standing on the 18th on 76 and dreaming of a birdie but ended up making bogey. Can't complain though when I beat my P.B. by six shots!
Ended up with a personal best of 81, nett 59, 10 under par for my handicap.
I have been cut 2.9 shots after that one round and am now playing off 19.2 instead of 22.1. Looks like I will have to play well again next week to have a chance of winning at Wokefield.

Played a medal competetion Saturday morning, finished the front nine 2 over net then managed to take the next six holesw in 5 under net, only to take an 11 on the 16th. finished the round net 74 (+2) and after adustment had my first official cut.
Followed that today with 36pts in the fiddle playing of 20 to finish second, so a good weekends golf

Roll up on home course. Played beautfully - mostly - 30 points after 11 holes, fell asleep for next 3 holes but rallied to finish 3rd with 41 points.5 hour + round but weather excellent so not too bothered.

Played the Avening at Minchinhampton with a single figure golfer I used to work with who has recently moved locally. Played matchplay with him giving me six shots, beat him 2 & 1. Carded a 90 with 2 blobs for 32 points. SSS is 71 for the par 70 (white tees) so just in my buffer zone. Oh, and sunburnt the back of my legs
Ball striking is getting there now after recent issues but tending to pull it left, especially off the tee. Putting is improving but short game touch needs some attention. Trip to the practice area I think

Didn't play Saturday, after my Friday game, but played today at Cleveland Golf Club. Pairs stableford with 15 other friends who'd travelled across from Manchester. Scored 43pts, whilst shooting a gross 74, for third place behind two 44's - Wet & windy but still lots of fun with some old friends.
