When do you play best?

Posted by: user250721 | Thu 8th Sep 2011 19:58 | Last Reply

Just wondering when everyone else plays best??

Comps?, Alone?, Casual rounds?, Range?

I played with 3 friends a couple of weeks ago, 2 of which shot 150+ plus, now im not too sure if it was me being slowed down or losing rythem but I shot 107, my worst for a while and took nearly 5 hours.

Just got back from a round (played alone) shot 87 in just over 2 hours. One of my best.

Recently seem to play better if I havent been to the range at some point as well.

Just curious as to what others find?

Doesn't make much difference when I play, which I think may be a little sad. Have I lost the need for the competitive adreneline buzz? That said, I stopped going to the range a long time ago when I realised that bad days on the range translated to a bad day on the course. I reached the point where if I hit half a dozen bad shots on the range and it wasn't working I'd walk off. Equally, if I hit half a dozen good ones I was happy and would walk off. Nowadays if I practice (rarely) I go to the practice area. Less noise and interference, and I get to work quietly on what I want.

On my own. Working on playing better with other people around as it kind of ruins the social aspect of the game for me if I'm routinely 10 shots worse off in a 3/4 ball and getting frustrated!

I norally play better in just casual rounds, although I have managed to recently put a performance in a competition.  I think when playing in comps, my main concern is handicap increase, so don't want to play badly...once I learn to accept that, I think it'll improve

I usually play better when on my own, also play better when playing with a better partner. i find when i play with a poor player i usually end up playing to their level. Also i have started taking worthers original sweets with me to suck on whilst playing and i find it calms me down and since then ive been playing better.

I play well generally when with a couple of chums on our usual  Sat morning knock around ( we observe all the rules closely). However we have been lucky to win a couple of club matches because we combined well. When he fell down I got it home and vice versa. Without doubt the pressure of a match got to us both. (nothing unusual there I expect)...

I do play better when playing social golf but that obvioulsy down to the relaxed atmosphere and playing on your own doesn't count surely.

Everyone can play well on your own no pressure at all, loads of time, only good scores when you have a card that counts in your hand feel like good ones to me, i'd rather shoot a 95 in a tough situation than 85 when just having a friendly knock.
