You techno-slut. How upset will you be if you don't lke it?

you need to drop the "ping" bit from your post tim
hahahahaha

Don't know how people can be so loyal to a particular brand. Their range can be so different from one year to the next. Ping are actually a good example for me. I hated the G10 driver but quite like the G15. If I were brand driven I would never have tried the G15 because I would have decided I didn't like Ping. Get the right club, not the right name I say. I'll now sit back and wait for Hawkins to rant on about buying unknown brands much cheaper and they're just as good or better

It says that these new G 20's 'launch 0.75degrees higher' A lot of these drivers are now same loft as the old 2 wood... they still have 3 woods so why not 2 woods?

£ 126 ? Where did that price come from Ivan.
In respect of right club v brand I do always try other clubs but don't get any outstanding differences in performance for my game. Tim is quite correct I am a Ping "bitch". I have Ping all the way through the bag from driver to wedges and continually check my fittings periodically for changes in set up.
I just like their gear and it performs more than adequately for my game. The only things which are not Ping are the trolley (Ping don't make one) and putter (But considering going back to a traditional blade putter from my Odyssey Sabretooth). Again will trial & test before I buy and get the right club. If a blade does not suit then I will stay with the odyssey as I would say I am a better than average putter.
Just looking for little things to take my game forward from a 5.3 handicap to a 2/3 handicap which is the next goal.

Sanders, can you vouch for that site priced at £126 ? really just picking up on the various fake club posts

The site does seem a little dodgy with users being invited to "Creat an account". Some of the language used also seems a little ropey, on the FAQs, they say "thank you for getting to us" rather than "contacting". Doesn't mean it's fake, but is not the most professional.

Can we now talk about Martin's new driver ?
Reply : Thu 4th Aug 2011 22:02
Let's go back to Tim and Darren's posts that Martin is a (Ping) bitch and take it from there shall we?
Reply : Thu 4th Aug 2011 22:30
After hating the G10 and being pleasantly surprised by the the G15, I look forward to an honest and objective review from the (Ping) bitch after his fitting session and hope he will have it with him on the 21st so I can marvel at it's brilliance/mock his gullability *

No Ivan, it's Martin who's getting the new driver. Must be something to do with someone out-driving him with a 3 iron at Moortown last week!
Reply : Thu 4th Aug 2011 22:47
Martin and Darren are brothers so it kind of goes with the territory that they share the same surname. To be honest, they're very similar and some people struggle to tell them apart.http://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/tounge_smile.gif" title="cheeky" width="20" />

now who's being a bitch James !!!!!
Reply : Fri 5th Aug 2011 08:38
Have you tried Wilson Staff Martin, i hear they are quite brilliant?
Reply : Fri 5th Aug 2011 08:42
Can anyone answer my point? Does this increased loft (increased launch 0.75 degrees) take it into the 2 wood category and if so what haooened to 2 woods?
Reply : Fri 5th Aug 2011 08:56
I don't think there are rules about what number you give a club re loft. Many drivers are in the 13-14* range whilst a "strong 3 wood" could be 12*. I think a 2 wood is not particularly marketable at the moment as the general consensus these days would be a driver being easier to hit than a 3 wood off a tee and a 3 wood being more than ample as a long club off the deck. a 2 wood that's a pain to hit off the deck and less forgiving than a driver propbably doesn't have mass market appeal.

The bitch is back from his fitting. And WOOOOOW.
To cut it short I tried 4 different shafts and 3 loft combinations and based on performance I will be going for a G20 9.5 stiff ping tfcD tour shaft.
The long and short of performance is it added 20-25 yds of extra carry and overall increase of approx 40-50 yds. So now I have a lot more length to go with my normally straight driving. Also my dispersion with the new driver is even more accurate than with my current G15.
CGL boys watch out. Mr Boring is taking it to a whole new level of boring.

Wow Martin, 20/25 yards of extra carry and 40 to 50 yards extra distance, that's some going.
I start my new job at the beginning of September (when I come back from my two weeks in Cornwall) so after paying my deposit, maybe I'll have to try and get myself a new driver.
My Yonex Cyberstar 10.5 degree, stiff shaft is now over five years old!
Where did you go for this Martin, was it at the PING place in Gainsborough?

As a ping bitch the only place to go was to their custom fit centre at Gainsborough GC . The main reason for the extra distance the new club is for me that head and shaft combination has increased by swing speed, ball speed launch angle and dropped ball spin from 3000 to approx 2500.This package has given me the extra 40 yds overall with a better and much stronger ball flight. We did discuss that maybe it may be time to look at my iron spec again. But went to ping in April to check them all and they were ok then but don't think we considered stiff shafts.

An extra 40-50 yards will hopefully get you competing with Andy's 3 iron distance then!

Played in a fellow CGL member society at Gainsborough GC (Ping) yesterday. Went to the pro shop and they had in the display the new G20 woods. I asked the assistant whether she had any demo clubs as I thought I might get on the course with one. She replied no not yet as the clubs had only been delivered from the factory the night before.
After closer inspection they had my fitted spec driver and 3 fairway there so guess what, they are now in my bag. And what a difference they made. After taking a few holes to get used to them to begin with it transpired that my driving yardages over the day have increased from between 35-40 yds.
So playing the Lakes course in the morning round and the Thonock in the afternoon, the new driver was working well and shot a level par 72 around the Lakes and +1 on the Thonock. Also played in the monthly club mixed at my club this afternoon and won that also,
So proper fitting pays off guys.
Reply : Mon 15th Aug 2011 11:57
You are spot on, Stuart.
The fitting is supposed to give you the optimum, shaft. loft/lie to suit your swing characteristics, but, and a big but, no one, apart from the better players are consistent enough in their swing to produce the results of that fitting. Even they, will, on occasion, alter their swing speed to play certain shots, thus, making the fitting incorrect at that particvular moment in time.
It is strange that fifty years ago one just bought a set of clubs off the rack in a pros shop, yet the standards then, were far higher than they are today. The new handicap system tells you that.
Reply : Mon 15th Aug 2011 14:33
I don't know if you misunderstood guys but I DID get fitted at PIng 10 days ago and I have purchased the clubs with the correct lofts/lies/shafts. They just so happened to have them in stock in the shop.
If it hadn't of been for the fitting showing a marked increase in distance AND accuracy then I would not have bought them.

See there is Ping G20 driver on Ebay at the Moment. 7 shots old ! is it really that good? £195.
Dave CAC handed Geordie.
Reply : Tue 16th Aug 2011 14:46
I very much doubt it, Dave, Martin knows how to play the game and if he feels that the club has made a difference, then fine, but in all honesty. if you can play the game then any club will do.
I played yesterday with a couple of youngsters at my club, one of them was off 8 and he did give the ball a good wallop. On our 14th I let him try my Honma persimmon driver and he was gobmacked that (1)It went exactly the same distance as his huge 460cc driver and (2) the trajectory and shape was pure pro class, when compared to his very high ball flight with his own club.
