Why do we do it?
What is it about golf that makes us go back time and again? Why do so many players rarely become bored with the game?
I've been playing since the 60's, and although my motivation to play has changed, e.g. I'm in no rush to tee off in the rain, I still get a huge buzz from playing. My game is waning somewhat - in the ecelectic thread I posted in it made me realise that I don't shoot the lights out like I used to. And if the is a longest drive in a comp I'm nowhere near it these days, whereas once upon a time I'd be there or there abouts.
Is it a basic, primeval, hunter's desire to achieve/win/make a kill? Do we men get our adreneline kick from it, which may go some way to explaining why so few women play...?
During the the odd rough patch down the years, when the game has frustrated me no end, I've still put my name down to play.
Just what makes us keep coming back?

Not so sure I keep on playing to better my last score.
I play for the fun & enjoyment, the companionship (I have never played a round on my own) and the walk in the fresh air surrounded by a beautiful landscape.

There is of course the view that the less time spent at home the less chance of being told what to do.
