custom made golf clubs
I'm new to golf and using an old set of clubs that have just about had it. Im gonna buy a set of nike ignites which i have read are good for the high handicapper and within my budget. I am 6ft 2 and have been told I should get the clubs fitted
are they worth it ? will it make much difference?
any advice welcome

Hi Connor, and welcome to the site and to golf.
I'm one of the 'Yes' to custom fitting brigade.
Played for years with a set of Prosimmon Crusader irons. Always had a fade/slice.
Bought some Yonex from American Golf, custom fitted there.
Went out the day they arrived and shot my best ever score!
What I learnt from the fitting was that I have an upright stance, which means I needed the lie of my clubs altered. The reason for my fade/slice was that my over the top swing leads to the toe of the club hitting the ground before the heel, result, it opens my clubface!!!
Most places will do custom fitting for free, so why not have it done.
There are places like the Belfry that will custom fit you for a wide variety of club makers, you have to pay them but if you buy the clubs they take it off the purchase price.
If you go to Nike, then they will only fit you for Nike clubs.
That's my opinion for you.

Sorry, forget to mention it.
What Matt is saying is totally correct.
It's no good having your clubs custom fitted if you haven't got a consistant swing.
If you swing the club differently with each shot then spend your money on lesson (another thing I cannot recommend enough).
Swinging the club consistently, then go for the custom fitting.

When I had my Yonex fitted, and my present clubs, the Mizuno MP-68's.
I had to have my lie adjusted two degrees upright.
Mizuno also said I should have the shaft a quarter of an inch longer than standard. This did surprise me as I'm five foot ten inches tall!

There is no "standard", lie angles vary between brand and even model within a brand. Mizuno clubs generally tend to lie rather flat and often have short shafts, Taylormade are the complete opposite (not a hard and fast rule!). It's completely pointless using measurements off some standard chart when there are no standards. Get fit for the clubs you are actually buying and the numbers will add up.
