Woolston Manor, Chigwell, Essex

Posted by: user250721 | Thu 14th Jul 2011 21:56 | Last Reply

Just wondered if anyone else got the Groupon voucher recently and have already been and played.

Just want to find out how the course is at the moment, sitting on my voucher waiting for my pal to be available.

Cheers.

Take a bucket and spade with you.

The most bunkers on one golf course I have ever seen.

Also, the biggest bunker I have ever seen on a golf hole.  Par 3 with a bunker all the way down the left hand side.

Not played there this year but I played last year and it was good.

Played there (on a Groupon deal) last month.

Course was in good condition but then again most of it is a bunker tso here is not a lot of grass to be in bad condition winkhttp://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.gif" title="wink" width="20" />

Over 18 holes I hit 15 bunkers !!!!  I think I found water on the other 3.  But it is nice to give the sand wedge a good day out.

Having said that, the bunkers are all well kept and had a good amount of nice soft sand in.  Greens were well kept but not overly fast.  Tee boxes were neat an tidy (not sure what they will be like now after the weather we have just had).  Course management is the key.  I recommend you invest a couple of pound in a stroke saver.

Reasonable pro shop, nice sized bar area, though the bar itself is quite small.  Food was ok and the welcome was friendly.

All in all it is worth a visit.

Due to play there in a couple of weeks for one of the club teams.

Will do a practice round next week. I was mapping out the course for my GPS and thought there were a fair few bunkers it did not seem to be too many, but will have to wait and see!

The course I remember playing with the most bunkes was Chart Hills (Faldo course) in Kent.
