Marshalling at the Open at Sandwich

Posted by: user252224 | Wed 6th Jul 2011 21:46 | Last Reply

Hi Guys

I have just been to my club to collect my Marshalls pack for next week at the Open.

great package for doing the job

A weeks entry pass so can go to any time or day to watch (value £220)

full week parking pass in the nearest carpark with priority (£60)

a baseball cap (£15)

meal vouchers for everyday that i am marshalling (unknown but a bacon roll will be about a fiver)

And a Mizuno Marshalls jacket that in the R&A's wisdom have restricted to ordering 1000 for the 1200 marshalls that are working. so my club that has 55 marshalls has been supplied with 41 jackets we have got to share these between ourselves during the split shifts (approx £50 although might go for more on ebay if i can get it signed by the winner)

I wonder if the penny pinching for the jackets is really worth it as the cost of an extra 200 at bulk price would really hurt the R&A's pockets

Does seem like another 'Cock-up' from the organisers of a major event.

We've seen the fiasco with the Olympic tickets.  I mean how hard can it be to sell tickets?
