Gap in my wedges
Bit of general advise please chaps? Just got a new set of irons which only run to the Pitching Wedge (47degree). I already have a lob wedge at 60 degree. Generally only used the lob when really needed to and just opened up the PW for all other pitching shots.
So is it worth just plugging the gap with another wedge in the middle, or stick to what I know and use the PW from bunkers rather than the SW I used to use in the old set??

I recently bought a new set of R9's. The lofts were stronger than my old set so I had to change them. Commonly its 52 (Gap), 56 (Sandwedge) ,60 (Lob) - each gap the same, but it depends on the lofts of the rest of your clubs.
I have 46degree PW, 50 degree Gap Wedge, 54 degree Sand Wedge and a 58 degree Lob Wedge.
Just try and get the same degree of difference between them. I'm sure somebody on here will say use the same club, just learn to use it in different ways.
Hope that helps.
Chris.

Usually you will find that a "Sand Wedge" has a different sole to it which aids in getting it through the sand in the bunkers, so if going for anything I would look for a sand wedge either in your same set or any other make that suits you.
At the end of the day it is always best to play a shot with the club you find the most comfortable with, 50% of the challenge is getting you happy with what you are about to play 50% is the execution (in my opinion).

Ivan,
I suspect you are being deliberately provocative but i will bite, I have always hit a full club better and therefore carry, PW, 52,56 and 60. These are 135, 100,80 and 50 yards respectively. In addition the 56 has significatly more bounce than the others for more dificult lies and bunkers. It makes sense to me any way.
A driver, 3w and 3 iron or hybrid gives me plenty enough options at the long end of the scale.

For years i played with a TM R540 driver ( and indeed a Mizuno Tzoid before that) that were well below the 460cc allowable max. I swing the club plently fast and have never had a lesson or any help on my swing. I completely rely on natural timing and ability. All that and i still carry 4 wedges
