Cracked Skycaddie SGX Screen
A while back I posted on here that there wasn't any permanent skycaddie holders for a Powakaddy. I eventually found someone on Ebay that made a work around which is pretty good. The problem with it is that the skycaddie slides in & out quite easy so if you go over a bump it has a tendancy to fall out.
Anyway this is what happened the other day, I went over a wooden bridge with my trolley & when the wheels dropped when getting off the skycaddie 'popped out' & dropped to the floor which happened to be a concrete path ( ). When I picked it up the screen had cracked but the unit still works perfect.
I have contacted skygolf to enquire about a repair & they have quoted £90 to fix it. As the crack is in the corner I think I may leave it. Has anyone else had this happen to them or know anywhere that can fix them for a lot cheaper?
Thanks,
J.

I've had a cracked screen on my SG5. Bit of a freaky story to be fair.
Arrived at the golf club after just registering my sky caddie that morning after the membership had ran out. Didn't realise that it wiped off previously stored courses. Bugger. Popped back in the side pocket of my golf bag in its case (well an old solid-ish glasses case) and thought nothing more of it.
Father in law and I got to the 2nd tee - it was on the back today. Left my bag where I had left it for the past 2 years - in front of the tee but well left. So I thought.....
Father in law caught his drive on the bottom of the club and it smashed into my bag. You guessed it - smack bag in the middle of the pocket with my sky caddie in. Screen in bits, but it still switched on.
Rang Sky Caddie, return, £80 to repair it. Turn around was great - a week if memory serves.
Get it repaired it will be worth it.

Chris,
At the time I bought my SGX I scoured the net looking for a permanent holder to fit the Powakaddy, http://www.golfshake.com/forums/view/7649/Skycaddie_SGX.html, & couldn't find one. Skycaddie & Powakaddy still don't advertise them on their sites so I had to opt for the next best thing.Maybe you could post a photo of the one you have so I can get in touch with Skycaddie asking them for one???

Dennis,
Thanks, think I may get the conversion kit as I already have a holder for the SG2.5.

That makes sense John.

Just had a phone call from Skycaddie & apparantly the £89.95 isn't for 'fixing the screen' it is for a refurbished model as they have to send the screens to the USA to be fixed & that's too costly.
Apparantly all refurbished models are less than 12months old & you can carry over any existing warranty from your old unit to the replacement.
I just think that it's bizarre that a big company like Skycaddie can't fix their units in the UK or even have a repair centre in the UK??

Chris,
Thanks for this BUT I had seen the temporary versions, I was after the permanent mount specifically for the Powakaddy trolleys like they already do for the SG2.5 & SG5.
This is what I couldn't find at the time?
