Any tips at how to play stableford, play on thursday nights over 14 holes and get 22 shots. so on 8 holes i get 2 extra shots. Whats the best tactics for this. alot of my other players have less shots then me.

Use your shots Matt. Why thump your driver off the tee when you can hit say a 5 wood then a 7 iron and then a 9 iron to green and two putt for 5 less 2 = 3 for 3 points on a par 4.

Take the first at Crook (assume your doing the rabbit's). 303 yrds so I will take a 21* utility off the tee which goes 165 yrds. That leaves me 138 yrds - it's the first hole so I may go 9 iron which leaves me a chip and two putts for 5 - 1 (only get one shot) = net parr for 2 points.

On the other hand I could whack the driver into the rough. Take 2 out of there - now the adrenline is really pumping so I hit a 5 iron 11 yrds and so on and so on for nil points.

Keep it simple. Play each shot within yourself and use course management from the tee to green and take your punishment when needed.

Oh and relax, chill out - enjoy.
