quick update just to aid with organisation etc.  Numbers are likely dropped from the 80 last year which will mean a 1 tee start and allowing everyone to finish on the 18th with us ALL watching from the gallery of the veranda!

Still will be 60ish keeping 1st to last group around 1hour 30 mins a part.  Will make for some fun viewing on the 18th

Still 6 weeks to go so teams will even out.  I've just dropped numbers to save some of the administration in chasing payments and ensuring teams are even as soon as possible.  (this is always the last minute headache) 

I've cleared a space on my mantlepiece for this years N v S Trophy that the North will be bringing home again.

I've only just had clearance to play on sunday/monday. Is there any chance i could still pay and get a chance to give all those flat cap wearing,pigeon racing,rugby league playing northern monkey's a right pasting.

as far as i am aware, the changes to the course are

2nd hole now a par 3

3rd hole which was a par 3 now completely removed to make way for new cottages

a new hole inserted around the 15th area

I spoke to the club last week:

we now have a new 2nd hole – a challenging par 3 with two ponds, 3 bunkers & a huge green & a new 15th hole – a dogleg par 4, again with water hazards & 2 large fairway bunkers. So I hope you enjoy the new challenge!

well Darren says new 2nd and 15th - not 3rd?? so presumably yes it's two consecutive par 3's

actually looking at the latest cards on GS it looks like the old 2nd is skipped and the 3rd is now the 2nd as the 3rd is now a par 4.

Gents I played the abbey two weeks ago on our annual 28 golfers away day 10 th year at the Abbey. The course is playing good but the two new holes still need a lot of knitting , the second is now a difficult par 3 , now no longer a dog legs the old third is going to be chalets. There is a new hole 15th which to be honest is in poor condition due to no water but the greens are pritty good on the whole.
We have noticed a slight decline in the standard I.e. Bunkers in poor state not sure if they have made cut backs on the green staff but overall I am sure the comp will be good . Sorry I can't now be there

so the 2nd hole is now a par 3 and the third hole has now been removed and a completely new hole around the 15 area has been installed

or thats how i read it
