Society Members needed or maybe Society amalgamation considered ?

Posted by: user375212 | Wed 13th Apr 2011 08:01 | Last Reply

Proud member of BASGS golf society - started over 30 years ago as British Airways Secuirity Golf Society and now fallen on difficult times generating members. Organise meetings 1 per month all year round in vicinity of Surrey / Heathrow / Berks & Bucks ( Pine Ridge, Downshire, Pyrford, Richings Park etc ), Have around 16 members at present but struggle to get 12 players to attend each time. As example playing Pine Ridge this Monday ( 18th April ) with 9 players....

Need new members or maybe our best way forward is amalgamation with another society in similar situation.

With one or two exceptions all our members are wrong side of 50 years young but in our heads we have barely reached 35.... Handicaps range from 9 up to 28 with majority players are certainly handicapped in 18-24 bracket.

Play golf with smiles on faces and enjoy each others company. Jovial banter is a pre requisite ,,,, Coffee & Bacon Roll - 18 holes and 2 course Lunch normally keeps our days to under £40 per meeting for the type of courses we tend to play.

Have many time aged traditions within our society that continue to make us smile and we try get away for a golfing weekend at least once a year. Has been Spain in past - Last year was Devon.

Sadly thesedays with many courses now asking for minimum of 12 players for society offers we are obviously struggling. Be a very sad day if after so our society has been so long established it all comes to an end.......

So new members are VERY VERY welcome. Please feel free to get in touch for further info.

In addition if you are a society in a similar situation with dwindling numbers and might be interested in prospect of amalgamation then please also get in touch.

regards

Darrel
