Who wins on countback?
We have the odd matchplay pairs match during our weekend knockabout. As it only a bit of fun we dont bring handicaps into it we just say any par beats any bogie to keep it easy. However, last week me and my partner were 1 down from the 10th and took it to the 18th and won it to half the match. We couldnt continue as there was a queue on the 1st. I then say we won on count back as we were the last team to win a hole. Am I correct ? or is there another method of resolving this?

I'm planning to run a fun matchplay comp where 16 players will compete over three lots of 6 holes during an 18 hole round and the final winner will be decided by one shot to nearest the pin on the first hole of the par 3 course at my club. To do this we'll have to find a winner for each 6 hole match during the round so I've decided to introduce a rule where the player nearest to the pin in 3 shots on the final hole of each 6 will be the winner if the match would otherwise be tied. Not an approved method but it does at least rely on splitting the players by a skill (or luck) related method.
