Golf ready for change ?
Have a read of this article on how Barney Adams, the founder of Adams Golf is to release plans to bring back the enjoyment to amateur golf which is found to have been on the decline for years.

That is a great article and one with which I totally agree with. My post in another thread emhasised this exactly. My course has fourteen holes I cannot reach in regulation figures, but if I play off the tour drive length that Barney suggests, then Iwould find it playable and could score very well.

Very interesting. This year my club has reviewed three holes on the course, a 232 yard par 3, a 467 yard par 4 and a 241 yard par 3. In fact all the par 3's measure 232, 107, 241, 222 and 192 yards, and all play a lot longer bar the 107 length hole. Due to the length of the long par 3's the majority of club members were getting really hacked off with dropping strokes on these holes where they wouldn't receive any. This also held up play considerably as they wouldn't hit the greens in regulation so it would take longer to play the hole. Anyway, as from April the 232 yard par 3 will be a 147 yard par 3. The 467 yard par 4 will be a 499 yard par 5. The 241 yard par 3 will remain the same, plans were to extend the hole by around 70 yards and make it a par 4.
