Just a point. The chances of getting a single hole in one are 1:2, you get it or you don't. When you get that hole out the way, the chances of getting another ace are, er, still 1:2. So the chances of two in one round are 1:4. Now a bookie may quote you odds of 67,000,000:1 because it's pretty unlikely, but that's not the same thing at all.
(just one anytime would be nice though)

Tim
I think your looking at the difference between odds and chance.

It's the difference between odds and probability. The probability of getting a hole in one are still 1:2 no matter how long it is, how big the green is or where the pin is. On the next hole the probability is still the same whatever the outcome of the first. But, as I said, if I was a bookie I'd give you odds of 67,000,000:1 to do it.

I'ved missed the Marshall/Govan banter. I always thought probability was related to a known outcome hence the tossed coins Colin mentions. I don't think a long par 5 (ie that ridiculous 600 yard 18th at Pinta that we'll be playing next week, impossible to reach in one, could be considered as having a hole in one as a probable outcome.

Do us a favour Dave, can you text some ready made insults to us while we're there? I'm going to miss you cheery encouragement...

Probability that David and Stu will talk to each other without insults = 50:50
Likelihood that David and Stu will talk to each other without insults = 67,000,000:1

He's just bitter because he won't be there to gaze lovingly at you, Stu

This post seems to have gone slightly off topic - enjoyed the "banter" nevertheless,
