Tiger down to No.3 in the World
Well done to Martin Kaymer for becoming No.2 in the world, behind Lee Westwood who is No.1
People were saying that Tiger would take the number 1 spot off Lee but he is now No.3!

His choice not to be in the race isn't it? Phil Mickleson was playing in the event this week.

Torrey pines, that's a hard course to play for your first match of 2011, dont expect too much from him in that one. I really hope tiger gets back to his best, because the way Kymer is playing at the moment he will have to be at his best.In my view Tiger is the greatest golfer i have ever seen, and has done wonders for the game of golf, however there is a new young breed of golfers out there now and even though Tiger can still win the odd major he will never dominate the game like he use to, i believe no one golfer ever will as young golfers coming through are better than there's ever been and i think European golfers will dominate the top ten for the next few years..

He's still No 1 in the entertainment rankings, and yes I am only referring to on the course. Kaymer is great but boring as hell in his style of play, which is great for scoring not so great viewing. Give me lefty and woods any day.

David,
I wasn't making so much of a negative comment against Tiger but more so referring to the negativity of people against the Europeans. When Westwood became number 1 people were so quick to make comments just like you have "Tiger hasn't played much", "Westwood won't be number 1 for long" etc
I could take your comments as being denigrating against Kaymer & Westwood... but I won't

if anything the lack of Tiger's tournemens in the last 2 years with the injuries and last years problems, if anything will make it a damn sight harder to get the top spot back and throughout this year if he continues playing just once every 3/4 weeks he could well be outside the top 10 by the end of the year

I have to agree with John
When Lee Westwood got to no-1 instead of rejoicing that England have the no-1 player in the world, people on this forum kept slagging him off, saying he shouldn't be no-1 because he hasn't won a major.
But no player, played the majors more consistent than Lee, and if he was fit to play the USPGA he would have been the bookies favourite.
As for christopher Watmore, the rankings are what they are, every player plays to the same system, and that system states that Lee Westwood is no-1, end of story, although he could well lose that soon as Kymer is only half a point behind, but until that happens give the man some credit it was only 4 or 5 years ago his ranking was nearer to 200, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to pull yourself up from such a low ranking to become no-1 in the world..............................RESPECT

David,
please tell me where you think the tone of my reply is & what tone you are referring to?
With regard to your son I did know the facts as I had spoken to various people about the situation. You also forgot to mention how I also PM'd your son to explain I wasn't personally attacking him & to explain my point of view away from the forums, I think you were also PM'd by out of respect.
Not quite sure why your getting your knickers in a twist over this post (but there again you've obviousley been harbouring a grudge from 2 years ago over comments that me, & plenty of others made, regarding handicaps).
How you can read me being negative about Tiger in a post where I was congratulating Kaymer on being number 2 & stating a fact that Tiger is now No.3 is beyond me!
I'll have a tenner on both your bets if your that confident on Tiger?

I was one of those who said Tiger would rise back to the number 1 spot by the end of the year but I may be changing my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Kaymer is going to take some stopping this year I see him hitting No. 1 pretty soon and staying there for quiet some time. I do think Tiger will leap frog Westwood just don't think Westwood has the game to keep the likes of an in form tiger or Kaymer at bay.
I just think we are in for real treat this year with the battle for number 1 and with the huge amount of points on offer for major wins, if some one like phil mickelson wins a couple of major he could be in contension to.

Not if he uses the same swing position in your Avatar, John.

Chris,
Why is that?
I find it hard you don't respect Westwood but fight Tigers corner after everything he has done?
The banter on Twitter between Poults, Westwood, Rory & DJ Spooney is great reading.

John F,
Not that it isn't a little entertaining when you have got nothig to do for 5 minutes but I wouldn't say great banter on twitter. It just typical blokes toilet humour, me and my mate say the same type of things to each other in the pub on a Friday. I'm pretty sure the masses are not interested in a written transcript.
I know you feel Lee has a good Personality and I'm not saying he's dull as dish water, but Tiger is an enigma. The Guy is suddenly supposed be less of one because he slept with a strig of super hot women, I would imagine that would make him more than one.
If Tiger Woods and Lee Westwood walked into a room and I was only going to get chance to speak to one of them I know who I would choose. Lee is a decent bloke and a very good golfer but he is not and will never be a Tiger Woods.

Whats with all the Westwood bashing again, hes profession is golf, he happens to be very good at it, good enough to be NO-1.
I couldn't give a t*ss about his personality as i dont watch golf for someone to make me laugh, if i wanted that id go and watch a episode of only fools and horses.
And chris I'm intrigued as to why you despise him.
Westwood golfs no-

So because he didn't say hello to you, you wanted an American to beat him in the Ryder cup.
Wow you really do take things to heart dont you.
Also you wouldn't get near enough to Tiger to say hello, as he keeps his distance from the fans , great golfer yes, great personality no.

Chris
you say the Europeans dont try hard enough to win Majors, as if its easy to do so, there are only 4 majors a year, 3 of them are in the states giving the Americans a big advantage as they will be more comfortable with the courses and having a big percentage of the players entering them. Also you have to take into consideration of how much better Tiger was compared to everyone else over the last 8 or 9 years, with hes dominance it was not only the Europeans that struggled to win Majors, it was pretty much everyone. So having 2 European Major winners and another one who plays on the European tour last year shows how strong the European tour is becoming, and my prediction is Europe will start to win a lot more Majors in future and i would go as far to say that we will match our performance of last year with at least 2 Major wins.
As for who would i like to watch if i could only choose one player, yes it would probably be Tiger, not for his personality but for his ability to make this game look so easy, when we know its not.

"To be honest I wanted the Americans to win the Ryder Cup"
Now I understand why you put Westwood down & 'big up' Tiger, your a wannabe yank!

Chris,
I can't see any picture? I bet it's very funny though, Poults & Westy (oh sorry Mongy as you like to call him) are having great banter on Twitter.
