Driver Ball Speed

Posted by: user127691 | Sat 27th Nov 2010 15:12 | Last Reply

I have been using the simulator at the local driving range and it appear my average ball speed with the driver is around the 160mph mark with a range of about 155mph on a steady swing up to 172mph max ball speed with an all out swing.

I'm not to sure what this all means so I was after a few views on a couple of questions this this has raised for me.

  • Is this a standard ball speed it seemed alot faster than my playing partner but one of those was 72 so it is probably not the best point of compsrisson.
  • What sort of distance should this kid of ball speed produce? The simulator seemed to suggest alot less than I was expecting.
  • I apprecite with out a swing speed it is a little difficult to say but I am using a stiff shaft at the moment, would I benefit from something stiffer or softer?

    Thanks for that Sanders.

Also just to clarify my playing partner was 72 years old, his ball sped was around the 120mph speed. I didn't think that was to bad bad obvioulsy not something to compare mine to to closley to though due to the age difference.
