Base layer

Posted by: user34817 | Wed 17th Nov 2010 21:29 | Last Reply

Does anyone use the golf base layers and if so, what do you think?  I usually play all through winter but have not tried the base layer yet.  Was just wondering whether they actually worked?

I have one of the Nike ones and it works very well. It's thin so you don't feel like you're wearing an extra layer - that has the added bonus of meaning that you can get away with a very light jacket if need be.

It has been the real difference between being comfortable or not the last couple of weeks. So much so I'm ordering a couple more to make sure I have one available all the time!

I got a under armour base layer a couple of weeks ago and it certainly works.  Unfortunately, it's so effective that it's nowhere near cold enough yet to wear it!

Er, and I don't look like this in it either.....

I remember when they were called  'thermals' and didn't cost £30 for what is basically a long-sleeve T shirt........but if they do the job, fair enough! I got some from UniQlo called HeatTech, which were on sale at the beginning of the year for four quid each. Excellent value and as good as the Nikes that my kids bought me.....

I've got an Under Armour & a Galvin Green. In this current weather there really good as you can just pop a t-shirt over the top & your sorted.

It's all about layering proplerly in the real cold winter days. So the colder it is the more layers you wear.

@ Tim, did you get the matching pants as well?

I also have  a Nike base layer dri fit. Keeps you nice and warm without being uncomfortable.  Sports Direct £20.  Highly recommended

Just bought one today from soccer sport, made by Dunlop costing £11.99. Never wore one before but having just tried it on i can see why people praise them, they are figure hugging and keep the cold out very well. I'm looking forward to trying it out for real Saturday.cheekyhttp://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/tounge_smile.gif" title="cheeky" width="20" />

I bought one last year and used it all the way through the winter.

The problem is that when you are wearing one of these garments you cannot tell how much colder it would be if you didn't wear it!

I do remember thinking a couple of times last year that I would have worn more clothing if I hadn't had the base layer on, so they must work.

The good thing is that you don't need to wear so much thick stuff so your swing isn't affected as much.
