handicap query

Posted by: user249902 | Thu 21st Oct 2010 17:42 | Last Reply

Hi, sorry to bring up yet another handicap topic but i was just hoping for some clarificaton.

Today I marked a card for a new mamber, we both played off the white tees, does my score get tracked or not.

The reason I ask is because I just shot a personnel best from the white tees. My gross score was 101 ( par 72) but included two 9's (both on par 5's) a 7 (par 4) and an 8 (par 4).

With double bogey being the max score allowed for handicap purposes will my score be adjusted to a 94?

If so I have just got myself a 1.8 shot reduction..

I so hope this is the case.

Thanks in advance

I'm not 100% on this but I would think that you would have to put your scorecard in to have your score taken into account.  So if your playing partner puts only his score in then only his handicap would be adjusted.

Maybe somebody else will be on here later who will know for sure.

I would say, No, because you were marking a card for handicap purposes for a friend, your score, though admirable, cannot be submitted for handicap because it was not in a recognised cluib competition and a separate card of your score was not marked and signed by your friend, anyway.

It will be perfectly OK to enter this score into Golfshake should you so  wish

Thanks for the replies.

At least I have proved to myself I can play within my handicap, so it's not all bad
